Registered Nurse Kat Update
Just thought that I would update all of you who have been asking me about Kat and/or who have been concerned about her situation given the disaster caused by Katrina.
I had a quick email from Kat and she said that she is happy that she has been able to sign up as a temporary worker at a local hospital which is leaving her feeling "very optimistic" about her recovery/coping process at this time.
They have many adults, kids and pets in small quarters but everyone is making things work. I have let her know that many of you have expressed an interest to help her and that if she needs anything that I will coordinate doing all we can for her.
That's what I can tell you for now. As goes without saying, lets keep Kat, her family and ALL those affected by this disaster in our thoughts, hearts and prayers.
Carolyn
Thank you so much Carolyn... I gave up on this particular hospital last night, when they refused to take in a 91 yr old woman and her 80+ yr old hubby who were in the flood waters for 3 days.
I helped pull this couple out of the flood and the hospital would not take them for exposure and examination because they weren't VISIBLY sick.
Anyway, I'll post more later, I just wanted to keep you guys updated on what's going on... there are still hundreds, maybe thousands stuck in the flood waters... we have a boat, and we are pulling them out to safety one boatload at a time... I have photos I will post later..

Anyone wanting to send donations of clothing that is used or underclothes that are new.... Celtic Rose has my address, we have personally picked up two females we have taken in that are sizes 14 to 16 and they have NOTHING... only the clothes on thier backs. They will need everything... underwear, socks, bras, clothes... anything you can spare... we are working on getting another trailer for them to stay in until they can get in touch with out of town family.
gotta go, got more to rescue.

Hi, Kat! I'm so glad to know that you are OK!!! I saw posting about you so I didn't even have to ask! That is way cool!
We are in Katy, TX. I've secured an apartment and placed the children in school. I'm just doing whatever I can to create a routine to help them adjust.
This is the first time I have been able to get on the board. So, if you would e-mail me at [email protected] to let me know that you continue to be OK!
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication as a nurse and person! We are so blessed to have you assisting the hurting.
Hugs,
~Vanessa~

Kat,
I am so happy and relieved that you are safe, what a blessing. My heart hurts for all touched by this tragic hurricane. I find that I am having trouble sleeping because others who have no place to sleep, eat, bathe etc. are in so much pain.
I need to tell you Kat, you are a true ANGEL OF MERCY...Please stay safe while you are giving so much of yourself to those who are in need.
Please know that you and all touched by this disaster remain in my thoughts and prayers many times a day. I can promise that my family will donate in anyway we can.
Big Hugs to all,

Nurse Kat I just needed to let you know I think you are a very special kind person for all you do. You are very blessed with that. I only wish I had half your strength and courage. I pray for you and yours. Along with all your patients who are suffering, and the staff in the medical center you are in. If it was not for people like you, where would the rest of us be right now.
God Bless you in all you do
~~hugs~~
