Registered Nurse Kat Update
Hello all,
I was able to reach Kat and her mom. Kat had typoed the phone number where she was staying but I tried many permutations and finally found the right number.
Kat has had to leave her family at her mom's house and report back to New Orleans for nursing duty at the hospital where she works. She is finding the situation difficult as there are soooo many that she wants to help and she is seeing and dealing with issues that are very difficult. The hospital has had electricity restored but the water is still an issue.
I passed on all your your well wishes and she thanks everyone. Knowing folks here are keeping all in their thoughts and prayers is helpful. I let Kat know that I will update all of you as well.
When I spoke with her mom, she had to go because their boat had been repaired and they had found Kat's aunt so they were going to go and get her. See.... prayers are answered.
To all of those affected directly or indirectly MY thoughts and prayers are focused on you and all you dealing with. This will continue for quite some time to come.
Also for those that have plus size clothing and protein food stuffs, OH staff are coordinating with support groups around the affected areas that are helping those postops that are in need of things that most support organizations are unable to provide. High protein foods and plus size clothing are two such needs. If you want to help with those needs please contact the OH staff who have a listing of those who have voiced a specific need that is not something that is usually a focus for other support efforts.
In a post from the VP of Operations for OH the word is "Send a note to [email protected] and tell them what you can provide and we'll get back to you as soon as we know where to send it." This is a great way for us to help other WLSers in need.
I'll keep you all posted on Kat as I hear anything.
Take care all,
Carolyn
