Nancy Archer I have a question for you
I meant to do this yesterday -- I mostly post on the DS board so I forgot to post here for you -- ok, had my appt yesterday with the good doctor S. I was told I would have to wait and it would take a while so I brought a big novel for company. Didn't even get to crack it! I've never had such a fast and efficient doc appt!! Of course there was a question I forgot to ask, but I'll email him later.
First I was weighed, BP'd, etc by the nurse practioner, Pat. Then Dr. S came right in a did his speil on the RNY and the DS. He suggested to me the RNY since I'm considered a "lightweight" but had no problem with doing the DS on me when I asked him about it. He said he would like to do longer cc (150 instead of 100) since I am said lightweight. I was concerned about this until I looked at the DS lab rat data and saw cc lengths all over the place, some well over 150 and everyone is a loser, so I think I will concede to his experience and judgement on that.
I was given the name of the nut (you have to use thiers) and a psych (you can use anyone, I chose thiers since I didn't have anyone) and have my appts set up for May 21 (nut) and June 6. So now I just wait for insurance approval, which I know I will get and that I don't have to do anything else for that. Then I'll get my surgery date! Let me know if you have any more q's, I'm usually on the DS board like I said, but I try to check in here on my MD buddies. Hugs, Nancy
Hi Nancy, I am thrilled to hear this. I have been thinking about you all day. It sounds so positive. I can not wait for my appointment. Thank you for the information about the nut. I talked to Alice yesterday to see if there was anything I could do to smooth the process up prior to my appointment. She said that I could do the psych eval. I am glad you told me about the Nut cause I would have made an appointment out here. I think I am having my psych eval this week.
Hugs to you too. Jo
