Thanks, Cathy!!!  I haven't completely given up, but it can be discouraging.  I've found that most of the men on match are also on Yahoo - or is it that they ARE yahoos????  With the holidays coming up, I'm bound to be crazy busy, but if the right one came along, I'd make time for him!!   I didn't mention in my initial post, because it was long enough, that I met men with user names like Lick Tease and Tease Lick - swear to God!!!  They ended up being phonies (imagine that), and having their profiles pulled!!!   I knew dating wouldn't be easy, but I didn't think it was going to be like this!!!  Okay, I'll have faith, but the next time you pray, put in a good word for me, would ya??? Tia: As far as the dating sites " I have been there done that" Like you I thought my weight was the issue: Then one day I got an email :  Thought I'd found "the one" He had a good job ( goverment) and assured me he " could take care of himself" financially Men all they do is know how to lie.  Too make a long story short he was a user:  not of drugs or alcohol -  Women.  He could not take care of himself financially and loved living above his means:  took me a while to figure out I was being used but I dumped him. I too decided to take a break from the dating sites and decided to concentrate on me:  hence the WLS surgury and everything that goes with it. so " the one" may be out there and if he is I'm leaving it to God to lead me to him. Take care Darla

Amen, Darla!!!!  I just don't get it, I mean, I'm not ugly, yet I'm not Barbie, I'm pretty hilarious (at least I think so!), I'm caring, blah, blah, blah.  What exactly do they want???????

Unfortunately, it's not just the men who lie, I'm sure there's a whole internet world of women scammers out there, I just have no interest in meeting them.

I know the whole, "When the time is right thing...." but it's usually said by my married friends!!!!!!  It's hard to wait, but what choice do we have??

I should count my blessings - I have a great family, wonderful friends, including all of you, a job (notice I didn't say a great job), and am very lucky.  It's just that something's missing!!!!

Well, all in good time I suppose!!

Tia

I met my husband online 4.5 years ago and we just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. I used the Springstreet personals which were shared by Salon.com and The Onion -- if they're still there, you should check them out! I highly recommend them. Although, with a few more stories like the ones you shared, you could probably write a really good book. :) Good luck! Lisa

Thanks, Lisa - you give me hope!!!  I'll check them out if I decide to go back into the deep end of the pool - rest assured, though, I'll be wearing my water wings!!! It's kind of sad - I actually probably do have enough funny stories to write a small book!!!  We'll see!! Hugs, Tia

Oh please Tia - chuckle away - laughing at it is the only way to make it through it!  :)  I laugh regularly about dating antics!  And I know I'm not alone!   I have a friend that I meet for lunch here about 1 or 2 x a week. He is around my age (mid 30 s, early 40's) and happily married.  We got into a conversation one day about being a single woman today, and HE said that is the last thing in the world he would want to be. HE said that of all the men he knows (and he is a very active, social person) there is not one single man that he would even consider fixing me up with because there are just no quality single men out there.  I laughed and said "thanks for that comforting thought!"  Oh, and I can vouch for the fact that there are slim-pickins in Westminster! No doubt!!!   Why do you think I went to Lady's Night at Raven's stadium and got a picture of me in the endzone!  IF I decide to put a yahoo ad back up (took it down a while ago while dating the last uh, fella, ended that about a month ago, and haven't reached the point of despiration to put an ad back up.) When I do I'll use my avatar pic from here and bet I'll get 1000% more hits! LOL I am all about saying a prayer and wating for him to show up on my door step!  LOL

Caryn - Since my brother's a letter carrier, he knows/meets lots of people, but he, too, said that he wouldn't fix me up with anyone he works with or anyone on his route - he says none of them are good enough for me!!!  Yeah, that'll keep me company on New Year's Eve!!!!!  And I work with nothing but men, but since I know them, I definitely wouldn't date them - especially since I know them. Yes, most married people agree that they would not want to be single today.  Gee, that makes me feel better, too!!!!   I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my initial post.  Ted from Westminster - when I was talking to him on his phone, I heard this whistling sound and asked what it was.  He said, very matter of factly, "Oh, I have this device I have to breathe into before I can start my car because of a DWI I got."  Well, I work for the police, you don't get that with just one DWI, he had several, but did say that his last was in 2004 - although he could've been lying about that, too!!!   Yes, it's been a blast!
