Does Dr. Roe do a pre-op liquid diet? I keep hearing about this on the boards,  but he hasn't said anything to me about it. I wasn't sure if he did this or not.

I know a few of his patients, and I'll ask them. You'll probably get a response before I get an answer though. Will you have a seminar on your post surgery diet? My surgeon requires that, and I went today. It was GREAT! I can't think of a single question that I have that wasn't answered. I got lots of information, and my bible/binder that I have been hearing such great things about. It really takes a lo of the mystery out of the process. Do you have any more meetings with Dr. Roe, or anyone at his practice prior to your surgery? I meant to ask today when I was at GBMC about OR tours, but forgot. I did get to meet one of the OR nurses, and an OR tech. They were wonderful, and made us feel comfortable with the process.  They both had a great sense of humor, and came across very caring.
Hugs!

Kathy,     Thanks- I had my nutritionist appt this evening. It was great. It was only one other surgical patient and me. It was very informative. I got a great package of information. I totally "get it" now as far as the eating goes. A lot of my food fears are gone.  I finally feel like I can do this now. I did ask the nutritionist and she said that it varys for it each patient as far as the liquid diet goes.  I have a support meeting tomorrow at his office and my final appt is on the 19th. SO I am soooooo ready to be done with this.

Hey Dee It was great meeting you at the meeting the other night.  To answer your question, NO, Dr Roe does not require a pre-op liquid diet. I think you can eat right up until 11pm the night before your surgery but the liquid diet is not required, niether is the bowel prep that other surgeons require. Kelli

Kelli,     Thanks! I was actually just reading in WLS for dummies about the bowel prep today, and wondering. At this point I am having a hard time eating anymore, it is a bit weird. So it may not be an issue anyway. I am looking forward to the turkey tommorw though.  It was great meeting you too! I look forward to talking to you soon. Man my nerves are getting the best of me tonight though.

That is totally normal. Not eating right now is just the nerves and that is completely normal. To be completely honest, your nerves will get worse the closer you get to your date BUT again that is normal. It is the thought of surgery and once it is done, your nerves will be much better. Right now just enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, next week is your whole new healthy life starts. =)  Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Just take one day at a time. =)
