Hi, I was just reading about how slow release pills are not recommended after surgery. I take paxil cr as well as a bcp called zovia or demulen. I've been taking both for many many years. will i have to stop? no one told me i would and they know what meds i am on.

Hi Nicole, I was on BP meds before surgery, but within 1 week postop, I was off of the meds.  If no one has mentioned it, then I would ask directly (to both your PCP and surgeon).  Good luck!

Your surgeon will most likely tell you wich medications you will take following surgery. You will stop for surgery, but go back on the needed medications soon afterwards. I am off of all except 2 medications. I took 10 pills a day.

I had a friend on Paxil CR and they moved her to regular Paxil because of the absorbtion issue.  I would discuss with your doctor.
