Johns Hopkins Support Groups
Hi Tiffany,
I am not sure about the Hopkins groups, but I know from my own experience attending my surgeon's support group meetings both pre op and post op was a very important part of my journey.
These forums are very helpful but do not make up for actually meeting with others who have experience with your doctor. Each practice has different protocols on post op care/follow up and you will see some very conflicting things on the board.
Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.
Hugs, Mo
Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
I go to one at least once a month, I too have to leave work an hour early to get there at 5pm.They are dffently worth attending!!! There is always a good mixture of pre ops and post ops there with good conversation. I'm actually talking at the one in March! Hope to see you there soon!!!

I work in Philly and live in DE. So it would be a 2 hour drive from work. But I may try to make at least one session before my surgery. Maybe if I need some pre-op testing or something, I can get it done on a Thursday and attend. Maybe I can come to the March session. What are you going to talk about?
