How do you deal with loose wedding rings?

I am having a problem keeping my wedding band on my finger where it belongs!  I can wear it on my index finger and it is comfortable there (but looks dumb!) Any suggestions?  My hubby will go broke if I buy a new wedding band every few months! What has worked for ya'll? Thanks. (Going on day 3 of liquid diet and am doing okay!)

I actually had to have my rings cut off prior to surgery.   I went without for a long time and then when my weight pretty much stabilized I had my rings resized.  When my jeweler cut my rings, he did each ring in two pieces .. on the sides, rather than one cut on the bottom and 'stretching' or bending the setting. Another temporary solution is to get a ring guard to hold it on.   I think they are called guards.   I found some rubber bumper kind of things in the jewelry department at Walmart.   They slip over the shank of the ring and help snug the ring up against your finger.   I think they come in various sizes to accommodate different widths of rings. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

i am one of the lucky ones that has a contract on my ring where we bought them and I can have them sized up or down at anytime for no charge.  Try to get it sized soon. Hugs Kristen

My husband bought me a pretty gold chain and I wear them around my neck.  The plastic ring guards gave me blisters and I had a allergic reaction to the metal ones.  It isn't financially feasible for me to continue resizing them, so for now, they will stay around my neck.  I think once I get closer to goal, or when I see my weight stabilize for a significant period of time, I will get them sized.

I had to have my rings resized.  I went from a 7 to a 5.  Sad part is is that I could probably have them sized to a 4.  I just had these done right before Christmas.  It's crazy.  I am going to wait and see what happens.  For now, they will just have to spin around on my fingers.

I hear ya!  Mine are platinum, which is harder to work with than gold, plus the band has diamonds, so I'm definitely going to have to wait until I get to a stable final weight to have something done -- if they can do something at all.  Mine are 8.5's.  I wore a size 6 ring before I gained all this weight.  I suspect I'm probably about a 7.5 or 7 now. I've already quit wearing my engagement.  It's a little bigger than the wedding ring and I was scared of losing it.  I will probably quit wearing the wedding ring in the next month (because it's sliding up and down my finger too easily) so and pick up a little sterling silver band to wear until my fingers normalize. If they can't resize them -- a jeweler custom-made them and they are definitely unique -- I'm not sure what we'll do.

My wedding band is a wider band with a pattern on it and I out grew it a about eight years into the marriage. I wore my engagement ring and anniversary band until a few months ago. They are both too big on me, as well as all my other rings. I am now wearing just my wedding band but it is starting to get too big too. I am not sure it can be made smaller due to the pattern. I am holding off having anything sized until I get to a stable weight.  Wanda

I got a ring guard until that just didn't help anymore. I now am ringless.

Thanks for all of the posts. I actually went to Walmart last night and found a plain sterling band for 15.00! It should last me a while and when it no longer fits, I'll go get another if I want!

Day 4 of liquid pre-op...still going!
