First, I believe they've known for years, possible 3 or 4, that this happens in a lot of patients. Michael Schweitzer MD was researching ways to "cinch" the stoma, I believe in 2004 or 2005. Also, the information on Stomaphyx does say it can tighten the anastamosis.  I think no one has a handle on how to truly help yet. Yes, clinical trials are out there. The RESTOre is out there right now, a trial. As for the stretching, I think the research has shown it relaxes, more than stretches. Some people build up adequate scar tissue to keep this from happening, some don't get that. If the surgeon makes the "stoma" at the juejenum too small, you get a stricture. I guess it's a fine line they have to draw to decide. Guess you can tell, I always do a lot of research. One person on here has a pouch almost 10 times the size of mine. I don't think I did anything to cause this at all. d
