Hi All,  Yup, that is right,  I got my surgery date for April 9th. Currently I am already on all liquid diet due to my surgeon's instructions. Mostly use Atkins shakes or Unjury chicken soup flavor. Do you guys have any more ideas on Liquid diet? Also regarding the WONDERFUL!!! shakes, which one you mostly favored? I know of Atkins, EAS, Muscle Milk.... Which one is lesser carb or better taste or both? Give me your inputs please. Also, did any of you use soups during pre-ops or not? Thanks for your input,  Ellie

Congrats on your date! I have used the EAS and adkins.  I actually like the taste of the Adkins Chocolate Royale the best.  The Chocolate delight left a funky after taste. When I was doing my pre-op, I did soups too.  I did tomato and even bean soup.  Wasn't sure about the bean soup but i asked and was told it was okay. I drank A LOT of Swanson's chicken broth.  I would heat up a large container and put it in a thermal bottle to take to the office.  I would sip on it thruout the day.  Really helped keep the hunger away.  I bought the beef broth too but never used it. You can also have SF jello and SF ice pops.  There are some that are root beer flavored that are great!  Good luck and check with you NUT if you have any other questions.  They may even have a handout to help guide you. Great news Ellie!!!  You'll be a bandster before you know it! :)  I liked the Body Fortress protein powder in Chocolate.  You can get it at Walmart and mix it with skim milk.  I used 98%ff cream of chicken soup, sf jello, lite and fit yogurt, and chicken base for broth.  If you need any help or band advice just ask me!

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

Congrats on having your date. WOW that was quick!! You'll do great! Nerves are totally normal. I like Atkins and EAS shakes the best. Atkins just a bit more. I also like Soy Slender soymilk, that my Giant (in Towson) sells.  OK, well Hijack. Kristin, there is a restaurant, Jewish food to die for,  on the east side of Cleveland named Corky (or Corkie) and Lenny's. You would have to Google it for complete info, it's been a few years since I lived there last. I was actually born there, but moved away when I was 10 years old. I've only spent a few months at a time there, at most, since then. My favorite place to eat is my Aunt Rosalie's, lol. But, it will be the highest carb meal you've had in your life, so not WLS friendly I'm afraid. Otherwise, all you would have to do is knock on the door, lol. But, how do you think I got up to that 50 BMI in the first place? Except for 1 cousin, my family is all of the west side. I'm so not a fan of the city, except of course for family. Any other food recommendations would be pre-WLS (like BW3s for wings) or clubs, and I'm sure that won't help.

Hugs!

Yay Ellie, you got your date!  wooo hooo!   There are so many protein products out there. I have tried many.  I hear that your tastes change after surgery though, so the ones you like now, you may stop liking later.  I currently like the unjury but think the soup is to salty.  I like the vanilla clear, and chocolate.  I like the body fortress vanilla and the ready made atkins vanilla with a dash of cinnamon in it.  There are also protein shots which are only 20 oz but have 40 grams of protein.  I tried the new whey brand orange and liked it just fine.  Raed the labels and look for ones with more than 15 g of protein and less than 5 carbs.  Good Luck next week!
