3 THINGS FOR FRIDAY (THE 13TH!)
Good Morning All! Today I am grateful for:
1 - How blessed I am to have so many wonderful friends! They make me laugh! They lift me up! They are such a variety I have collected from various points in my life. I don't even have to talk to them all the time and when we get together, it is like no time has passed at all. I had dinner with some of these friends last night. It is like these times rejuvinate me. 2 - For my Dad. He has been gone for 12 years now and I still miss him. He was always my nurturer, my emotional compass. He did not have to be my Dad, but he chose to be when he married my Mom. I feel very fortunate to have had him in my life. Happy Father's Day to all of those Dad's who make a difference in a child's life every day! 3 - Any finally, that it is Friday, Implementation Day. While the day is not over yet, things are looking good so far. I have been up since 3AM and was on conference calls beginning at 5AM. We continue to verify, and hope that no major issues are encountered. TGIF!
May everyone have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Father's Day!
Debbie
Friday's 3 things
1. Give it up for Dad's everywhere. Okay, I've got to tell my Dad story. All my life, I never knew my real Dad. He and Mom were married at a young age and then ended up splitting up before I was ever born. However, I kept and cherished the one picture that I had of him. Eventhough Mom didn't speak of him very much when she did, it was never hurtful, just that their relationship didn't work out. I knew that he had been re-married and had another son (small town). I knew that he sent his $90 child support check every month until I was 18 years old to my grandmother. In the meantime, my mother remarried. My step-father was very abusive and we ended up leaving our home in the middle of the night when I was 11 years old to go to a shelter. I prayed when I was a child for my Daddy to come and rescue me. On my 18th birthday, my grandmother gave me the envelope that my last child support payment had come in with his address. I held onto it for a long time. Finally, I got up the nerve to send a letter. I was crushed when there was no reply. Then, in my 30's. I saw his last name on a restaurant and knew that he probably owned or his family owned the restaurant. I couldn't do it, but a good friend called and asked for him. They got his cousin who wasn't sure where he was but thought he might be in Florida. That day I did a people search and found that he was living in Florida. For $19.99 I got his address. I wrote a letter and sent it Fed Ex for a delivery receipt. This way I wouldn't have any questions about him getting the letter. I included my work phone number and the very next day he called me. He told me that he had loved me all my life and that he always wanted to me, but he had promised my mother that he would not fight her for me. He is the best Daddy a girl could ever ask for. Since that day he has been my Daddy ~ he calls, I call, he visits, we visit and eventhough I have only had him for about 10 years now. He lives up to all my dreams and I love him very much. - Okay, sorry it was so long and that I'm now crying.
2. It's payday ~ I can buy another tank of gas.
3. It's Friday the 13th. This is the only lucky day for me.
To all, have a great day and great weekend.
