I Got Approval For A Consult
Hi Heather,
Thanks for responding. I found out about the mandatory information session on the website Hopkins Bay View.org. I even called the office # and spoke to Valerie and she confirmed that it is mandatory too. Then she said they would call me to schedule the appt. for my consultation. Did Dr. S. require anything from him before you could have surgery? i.e. tests, etc. ? I am just curious. Not only do you have to do what the Ins. Co. says, but I was wondering if Dr. S. has anything different that he wants done. Do you have a surgery date ? What do they talk about at the Information session ?
Hope to hear back from you soon.
Take care,
Ellen
Dr. S required a psych appointment and a nutritionist appointment before you can be approved surgery. Of course, that is in addition to what the insurance company requires. Depending on your medical history, he may want you to have other tests done - Cardiology, GI, etc. So far, I haven't had to have anything other than psych, nut, and my insurance requirements. I'm still waiting for approval from insurance, once I have that they will schedule the surgery. The information session talks about the practice, then one of the surgeons describes each type of surgery, the pros and cons of each, answers any questions you have, then they usually have a post-op patient there to talk about their experience and to answer any other questions you may have. Personally, I got alot out of it.
Take Care,
Heather
