Debbie:
I understand about traveling to Easton during the week.  The group leader, Deb, is in Hebron, maybe you can carpool together.  I'm here if you need me!!!  Let me know what I can do to help and I'm going to post about a spa get together as soon as I pull all the info together.  You are not alone!!!!!  There are some great people here on the board, some a lot more knowledgeable than myself, here to help.  But anything you want to know, just ask!

Hi Debbie:
Welcome to the boards and I love the S/n.  My furbabys name is Cuddles so it caught my attention.  Congrats on making a life altering decision and I pray things go smoothly for
you.
I am not a bander but there are many on the board that are and can offer advice.

Hi Darla:

Thanks so much for responding to me!  My furbaby's name is Cuddles too -thus the reason for the s/n.  She is a small mixed dog and my best buddy!

It is great to hear from other WLS ladies.  The support from all of you is wonderful especially when other people don't understand my struggle with weight and the decision to have surgery.

Thanks you so much for responding!  Debbie

Hi Debbie -

Welcome to the Maryland Board - the best around!!!  You've discovered a great, supportive group of people - we have little time for nonsense or drama here, we are all about supporting each other.

I don't live anywhere close to you (I'm in eastern Baltimore County), but like Lisa said, she's gonna try to put a get-together together for us at the Cambridge Hyatt.

By all means, don't be a stranger.  Post as much as you like and ask away about anything!

Thank you Tia!  I appreciate your welcome.
I must say I am a little apprehensive about having surgery to help me lose wieght. BUT I am starting to have some health problems because of the weight. I have been impressed by the successes of WLS after doing alot of  research and talking to people. I am anxious for my consult next week to see what the dr says.  I went to a seminar a couple of Saturdays ago and the dr seems to think after speaking to him for a few minutes, that I should have no problem getting approval from the insurance company.  We'll see....
I think the spa would be great!!!!!  My WLS group leader and I are hoping to go the Obseity event in DC in October too. I really want to meet other ladies that can understand why I am doing what I am.
I always read the comments on t he Maryland and Delaware message boards and am so impressed of the support each person provides.

Thanks again Tia for responding to me!  Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Welcome to the board!    I live in the Annapolis area and traveled to Salisbury for Dr Sofronski!   He did my RNY 4 years ago in March.   I think much more of his practice is bands now but he is awesome.    A lot of folks whine/complain about his steep program fee but I think it was worth every penny and I felt confident in him and that was the important part.

Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi Mo, thanks so much for responding to me!  I was grateful to hear about your satisfaction with Dr. Sofronski.  An old friend of mine had gastric bypass surgery done by him abut 6 years ago and she loved him.  I have lost contact with her as she got married, etc but I never thought back then I would be doing WLS too!  Yes, the band is about all he does now and he has had alot of success with it!!  I am anxious but scared!
The group leader of the support group I attend down here is hoping to go to the DC obesity event in October.  She has asked me to attend it with her.  I hope to be able to go to hear about other people's experiences of WLS.
Thanks so much for responding to me!  Debbie

Dr S is very hands on with his patients (or at least used to be!!!).   I saw him pre-op at least 3 times and then monthly for the first year post op.   The second year it was quarterly, and then the 3rd it became annual.  I know as the practice has grown there have been a lot of changes so I am not sure what the follow up is now and it would be different for band patients.

I am going to miss the DC OH event.  If I remember correctly, it falls on one of the weekends of our October trip.

Hugs, Mo

Hey Lisa -

What about sometime in early November for the spa - like November 8 or so?  It's far enough away from Christmas so hopefully, no one will be TOO strapped for cash, yet close enough to the holidays for us all to need it!!!!!

Oh, I am SOOOOOOOOO glad to hear that you are off those meds!!!!  Honey, that's something to shout from the rooftops!!!!

It's ALWAYS a good day/week/month when the boss is gone!!!

Hugs,

Tia
