Well that didnt go how I planned
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!!! Ughhhh I would be so super pi$$ed!!!! And Sept 15th is right around the corner. That is the day of my Pre Op appt. I am sorry that your office manager is being a Stickler!!! But hey I may be getting mine in October too. I HOPE SO!!! If I do then I can stick with my plans to hit NYC with the fam for Thanksgiving week.
Good luck on all the calls you will face again. I hope it works out. (((Hugs))) ~Jilly~

It is admirable that you are willing to work with your employer. At the same time, please find out from your surgeon's office how long the insurance approval is good for. I was delayed for medical reasons and my original approval expired and I had to be resubmitted for a second approval. You should be OK if you are post-poned to October, but it would be best to double check.
Hmmmm, this is getting me angry.
I have to say that I agree with the others here, and that you may want to take a firm stance with your supervisor. You may want to tell her that your surgeon will not schedule any dates in October because there are no other dates open & you are taking this one, period. You gave a months advanced notice. Just make sure your notice is in writing. They just will have to make do without you for two-four weeks. (Your surgery is laporoscopic, right?) Of course you have to make this decision for yourself but I think you are being more accomodating to her than you should be expected to be. Obesity is a serious medical condition and needs to be treated before something majorly bad happens regarding your health.
This is another thing that I get steamed about. People sometimes look at WLS as only cosmetic, when it is NOT. Also, we who have obesity have become such people-pleasers. If someone takes it upon themselves to be mad at you for taking time off for medical reasons, that is their problem. Don't let them make it yours. I wish you luck whatever you choose. Keep us posted, ok?

Thanks Jennifer and you have made such good points. I def agree with you but I donot want to come back to an office where people are holding a grudge because I took it when I wanted to not when they wanted me too. While I realize this isnt fair and kinda screwed up I dont want to make it an issue and stir up something and have it negatively affect me when I get back from work because believe me that is EXACTLY what will happen.
April: I'm so sorry, but I'm mad too. How dare she tell you to reschedule. This is not elective surgery. It's going to extend your life. Would she ask someone who has cancer to reschedule their surgery? Sorry for venting, but people have to understand how important this is to you. Stand your ground on the next thing, because there will probably be more coming. I know when I got my approval and date it seems like everything that could have stood in my way, did. But I was determined not to delay the rest of my life.
