3 THINGS FOR HUMP DAY!!!!

Good morning everyone!!!  Wow!  The weather is so different today than yesterday - what a difference a drop in humidity makes!!!

Today, I'm grateful for:

1.  My parents.  I love both of them, but my Mom especially has passed on her love of family, good morals and strong character to both my brother and me.  Dad worked shift work while we were growing up, so Mom was often Mom & Dad.  I can think of no better legacy than to pass on to KB what they've taught me.  Thankfully, I haven't done many things in my life that would embarrass my parents.  Even though I'm 41, I would hate to see a look of disappointment in their eyes and know that I caused it.  I know they're proud of the woman I've become and the love I have for my family and my friends - and I owe it to them.

2.  For my sweet KB.  They attend two different schools now, so it was quite the coincidence that I heard from teachers in both of their schools.  K's guidance counselor stopped me in the hallway the other day to let me know that during a group session for children of divorce, K spoke up and said that even though she has a good relationship with both her Mom & Dad, her true role model is.................her Tia!!!  Like a baby, I stood there with tears in my eyes as this woman, *****ally doesn't know me, told me that K said there's no one in her life like her Tia, that even when I discipline her and her brother, she knows it's because I love them, that I take her shopping (this girl has her priorities straight!), that I cook meals from scratch for them, that I take them to the park and the library and that I love them more than life itself (a direct quote from K!).  I was just so touched!!!  The guidance counselor finished by telling me what a wonderful student K is (she was just accepted for Spanish!! woo-hoo!), and that she was glad K has such a wonderful role model.  Awww!!!  THEN, yesterday I get an email from B's teacher, with whom I'd been working/corresponding to help B with his struggles in learning the placement of the 50 states.  His teacher, who was also K's 4th grade teacher, said he was glad we were working together to help B and that he wished all parents were as involved as I.  When I reminded him I WASN'T a parent, he said, "No, better!"  Awww!!  And he's a piece of (married) eye candy to boot!!  woo-hoo!!  Looks like I'm doing something right!!!

3.  That Darla and Kathy seem to be having the times of their lives on their cruise!!!  I miss them both and can't wait to see them!!

It's already shaping up to be a great day!!  Hope everyone has one!!

Hugs,

Tia

Tia,

Even though I know it is a struggle sometimes, I am so glad you have your KB and that they have you. I have mentioned before how much my nephew has enriched my life. And now that he is older, he has made it quite clear how much our relationship has meant to him. It has nothing to do with the parents. It is a special thing that is yours alone.

It is a struggle for me today as I sit here with tooth pain waiting for my dentist's office to open. But here goes anyway....

1 - That after bumps along the way over the last couple of months (and back and forth weight fluctuations) I am finally back to my lowest weight to-date. So now it is up to me to be strong and move forward from here without bouncing back again.

2 - That I have the flexibility of working from home while I am waitng to get into my dentist.

3 - I have to agree -  that I am so happy that Darla and Kathy are having a great time despite the existence of the huricanes. I am glad the cruise lines have contingency plans!

P.S. I know I have not been on a lot. Work has been extremely stressful lately. I simply do not have a lot of time to go online during the day. I do check in, but cannot always write until evening.

Hi Deb!!!!

I agree, we are VERY lucky women!!!  KB are truly children of my heart and the delights of my life!!  It's wonderful that your nephew is your friend, as well!!  They are all proof positive that you don't have to give birth to be a mother!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOO sorry for your tooth pain!!  Been there, done that!!  Hope you get some relief!  Don't forget to tell the dentist you can only take Tylenol as far as OTC pain relievers.

Congrats on the weight loss!!  You look incredible!!

Thanks for posting!  And don't worry, I know you're busy, but I LOVE hearing from you!!!

Hugs,

Tia
