Knee Update
Not sure if you have done the cortizone thing before...but beware...
The cortizone is an anti-inflamatory. It will knock down the swelling and reduce the pain. The problem is that it does not necessarily fix the problem. You need to know what is wrong and take strides to fix it. If you don't you may end up hurting yourself beyond the original injury.
If you can stand it...take some time off from stressing the knee. Give it 7-10 days to begin to heal and then start again slowly.
I have been dealing with IT Band injuries...pain shows up in the knee...but the fix is to strengthing the quads and hips. The orignal injury is actually inflamation of the band where it attaches to the knee. This time around, since I was pushing to run the marathon in Baltimore, they were trying to keep me running through it. They are using a topical cortizone and phonopherisis (ultrasound) to keep the inflamation down while I slowly increase my miles again. But both the ortho and the physical therapist insisted on rest and relative rest (reducing activity) for my knee.
They both gave me warnings that the cortizone would make the injury seem better when in reality it was not. I have been rehabbing hard for 6 weeks now and will only be able to run the 1/2 on October 11th...but that is better than nothing.
I wish you the best with recovery...but really take it easy. You want to avoid surgery if possible and pushing it could do more damage.
Take it easy...feel better...I will keep my fingers crossed that the knee recovers without incident.

PS: You are looking great man! Keep up the good work.

Every morning in
Actually, this is the first time in a while I have even been around the boards. I have been wildly busy training and getting the kids back into the school routine. Work has also picked up...so less free time.
I will try and get a bit more involved. I have missed all of you guys! :-)
Enjoy your weekend.
