3 Weeks Out...
And everything has been fine. No pain, no getting sick (knock on wood). So why am I now starting to feel like crap. Everything seems to leave a sour feeling in my tummy, including water. I have been using SparkPeople to track what Im eating. I am no where close to protein goals, maybe 35 or so grams. Water is getting better with between 4-5 servings instead of 8. In the beginning I was lucky to get in 2 servings. My meals are mostly Cream of Wheat for breakfast, pureed veg beef soup for lunch and chicken salad for dinner. Or something of that sort. Have been trying to get in different things on occasion but not often. Am taking my calcium, prilosec and multi-V.
Is this normal?? Are things heeling and my body is trying to figure out what it likes?? Any advice is greatly appreciated. GBMC Support group next Wednesday can't come quick enough.
Thanks

It takes a while to build up to the proper protein levels, so don't worry about that yet. Just do the best you can. The fluids are the most important right now.
As for the sour feeling, I don't remember feeling like that. At the same time everyone is different. It does not hurt to give the MD office a call and ask them. Do they have you taking Prevacid or something like that? I took that in the beginning. Perhaps that is why I don't remember having that feeling.

Hey Colleen!!
Like Deb said, don't worry too much about getting in all of your protein at this point, it'll be much easier once you're on solid food. I know, I know, you can't even THINK of solid food at this point!! It will get better, I promise.
Initially, plain water REALLY bothered me. I always had to have Crystal Light or some other mix-in. And I couldn't do COLD water, had to be room temp. Our bodies are funny things, aren't they?
As far as the sour feeling, if it was reflux, I'm guessing the Prilosec would've addressed that, but if it continues for another day or so, I think I'd be calling the surgeon's office.
Hang in there - it will all be just a dim memory one day!!!
Hugs,
Tia
