Ok I guess I am the hillbilly of the bunch! I grew up on the E'Shore in a very rural area.....the closest town was so small, while driving thru, if you blinked, you missed it! I grew up on a dairy farm.....the entire road {about 2 miles} was owned by my grandfather. I had neighbors....not lke you have now, I had to bike 15 minutes to get to their house! There was a few families that kids close to my age, we were by the farthest 3 years apart. I had 2 cousins that lived on nearby farms.........there was a total of 12 of us that were INSEPERABLE!
For fun we rode bikes, swam in different farmers ponds, rode horses & cows {no jokes please!!!!}, roller skated in the holding pens for the calves cuz it was the only concrete, played kickball & dodgeball, hide n seek & believe me we had plenty of places to hide! We used to pick the crabapples of my grandmothers bush & sting the crap out of each other with them! Today you have "cow plop bingo" {for those of you on the Shore who know what I am talking about}, then us kids had cow plop dodgeball........yes, it is gross! But as a kid it was fun.....my brother is 8 years younger than me, so I he always went home with poop in every creavice! Even tho ,it sounds like we had nothing but leisure time, we had a lot of work to do to! Mucking stalls, bailing hay, harvesting the 2 gardens that were no joke 1 acre each, helping with the canning of fruits & veggies......need I say more? I lived a typical farmers life!
But ya know what? As different as it may sound, I would not change one thing about it!
