Hi all. I'm just starting my WLS journey, again, and decided to come back and rejoin the forums. I've tried for WLS twice before but both times have found that my unsirance didn't cover WLS. The first time it was my fault for not checking before starting the process. The second time I did call my insurance and was told it was covered, only to find out 6 weeks before my surgery date that it wasn't covered under our plan. My husband's employer (a hospital) FINALLY covers WLS and I'll hopefully be making my appt to see the surgeon soon. The only thing I'm sort of frustrated about is that the insurance only covers surgery with the surgeon at his hospital. Luckily all the reviews I've read have been good but I do wish I had some options.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully I'll be on the other side of WLS before too long.
I am so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone by allowing someone/ anyone take a picture of you and share your story.. that's priceless. Thank you for being you :)

I live in Glen Burnie Maryland and looking forward to meeting new friends..
Yes, certainly sounds like a hernia. I'd go to the doctor soon. You don't want a strangulated hernia. Good luck, hopw you're feeling better soon :)

I have the chocolate and YES, it tastes like cake batter! I put it in soy milk, because even almost 7 years post-op MILK makes me so . If you call the company, customer service will send you some free samples.
Yeah, I went through a lot of them, too, before finding one that was even remotely palatable. MM also comes in cake batter flavor, now, too and it's pretty good!
There are only 2 grams of sugar and 9 carbs. There are 16 g of protein in 1 scoop. Its the only one I have been able to stomach! Everything else makes me wanna
How many sugars/carbs? I use Pure Protein - 23 g protein/1 scoop, 1 g sugar, I believe. It's important to get a powder that's whey protein with little to no sugars/carbs.
I agree, try the plastic surgery forum. I had Dr. Brent Birely out of GBMC and I thought he and his staff were phenomenal. His bedside manner was also fantastic. I would highly reccomend him for anyone else that has not selected a surgeon at this time.
Anyone use Muscle Milk after their workouts? There are 32 g protein/ 2 scoops and 16/1 scoop.
