Sorry for no answer you more faster the thing is I work every day two jobs and go home and do my chores at home so I get pretty tired. Thanks so much fore caring. I finally a few days from surgery my date is November 28 so exited and nerves at the same time. I will be getting my surgery by DR,QUINONES his staff seem to be really down to earth which I really like makes me fell a lot more comfortable. Cant wait to met Dr,Quinones becuase he will be the doctor that will change my life fore every.
I could not have been in better hands! I am so pleased with how well everything turned out!
I was in surgery for over 5 hours because of all the scar tissue and a hiatal hernia that was fixed but to be honest, I was in way more pain after my lap band surgery than I was for the DS. My incisions were way smaller for this surgery than for the lap band and I had zero gas pains. I had horrible gas pains after the lap band. I was back at work a week after my surgery (I work a desk job, nothing physical).
I am still getting used to getting all of the liquids in and getting all of my protein can be a challenge on my "tiny tummy" days but I am feeling great and losing the weight. Zero complications. I am so glad I did this!
I'm glad everything went well for you!
I'm with tmobile and they offer North American calling at no extra charge.
The hospital I was in for the duration of my stay (Almater in Mexicali) also had excellent wifi so I was covered either way.
I am scheduled for VSG with Dr Ortiz and A Lighter Me in TJ on December 17, 2015. I know two people personally who have had surgery through this company. One did a Lapband conversion to VSG two years ago and one was a vsg last year.
My coordinator is Jenese. She has answered any question I have had. I have some unusual metal allergies. She was very accommodating in helping me to determine the exact metal alloy in the staples used during surgery. I received a photo of the staples packaging from Dr. Ortiz, so I was able to track down the manufacturer and get the exact metals in the staples.
Yes, the A Lighter Me staff are sales people. But, I never felt pushed or pressured. They did check back in if they didn't hear from me in a while, but they weren't obnoxious about it.
I will follow up after my surgery. I would have preferred to have my VSG done in the states, but financially it was just not possible.
This post was sooo helpful. I am scheduled for a sleeve in Mexico on December 17. I asked and received answers to almost all of these questions.
Here are a few things I would add:
- My Mexico surgeon of choice only does an EKG and bloodwork before surgery. I personally have a history of asthma, so with the help of my PCP, I scheduled a pulmonary work up (covered by my insurance). I asked point blank if based on those results I would be cleared for surgery and if there would be any special concerns or instructions.
- I also did an endoscopy because of an expected, large hiatel hernia. I sent those films to the surgeon in advance.
- I also worry about the possibility of serious complications (requiring surgery) once I get home. Because of this, I coughed up some extra cash (about $1000) for medical tourism insurance. It covers 80% of any problems resulting from the surgery for 6 months - up to $50,000. It seems a bit ridiculous, but I have had my fair share of experiences with "whatever can go wrong - will go wrong".
Not yet! I am scheduled for February 8th of 2016 with Dr Cabrera!!
Every time I see this kind of post, about people asking about our experience I always think how great experience I had, and how proud I feel about by myself because I DID IT!
I went with Dr Camelo Ramos, and everything was great!! I was there in July and almost 70 pounds ligther!
I choose him because a friend had it done with him and saw results, and about pain it was tough the first hours but after walking and walking felt a lot better...and when they took my drain out it was gone!!
About my experience I must tell you..that I felt very well cared and pampered, Dr Camelo came to visit a few times and Dr Reyna too, my coordinator was there most of the time or just a call away..love the nurses, even the cleaninig lady was wonderfull!!
I wont lieto you...I WAS REALLY SCARED at the beggining but after A LOT LOT LOT of phone calls with my coordinator ( Veronica) and zillion questions and responses I started to feel more comfortable with my decision!!
I hope this helps you, its really important that you feel confidence with the people that is helping you during this process, if you don´t feel it, look for some body else...good luck on you research !!
Don´t go for the most popular Dr, they have like 8 or 10 surgeries a day...( something that I learned on the process)
Something else...lot of people complains about no follow ups...I do get follow up, I keep in touch with them and they always answer my emails!!
DO YOU PREOP DIET!!!!
I had mine with Dr Mario Camelo Ramos at Florence Hospital in July, as I always say...I would recomended him FOREVER!!!
Veronica, Dr Reyna...all of them are great!! they always checkin up on me!! wich its great!!!
I don´t know why you can fins much about him, but he has a Facebook page.
Good luck..WLS has change my life adn I have no regrets in going to Tijuana and had it done!! everything was just perfect!!
