I just had surgery last week in Juarez at Star Medica and was pleased. Dr. Rod and the team were very professional. They gave me the report to take to my own doctor and their English was good now the staff is not as well with English. The only complaint I have is the cold showers and how slowly they respond at times that I actually used the call button. They are good at giving meds at regular intervals. Good luck to you!

I have vertical sleeve surgery scheduled in just under 30 days and I'm a little nervous. I'll be using the same Dr and Hospital you did in Juarez. Sure would appreciate any info/ tips/ advise you might have for me. Everything I have read has been positive but I Just don't want any surprises and would like to someone who has done it before I leave the good ole USA to have a surgery.

Hi everyone! Newbie here. Been researching WLS in Mexico. I like what I've seen so far from Dr Illan. I have two questions:

1. Were there any unexpected costs? We would be driving to Mexico so we would not need taxi/uber.
2. How was your pain controlled? I read about a physician who wanted $1k extra for a pain pump and wouldn't give any narcotics (even while inpatient) to control post-op pain

He was at the top of my list until I looked at the Mexico Board Certified Bariatric Surgeon list and his name or hospital isn't on there. Kind of bums me out. It says he is board certified on his site but I cannot verify it. Unless I am missing something?

I was hoping to find some others having gastric surgery at hospital Cer around May 25, 2017. I just wanted to make a few friends that will be there when I will. Thanks
