I'm so sorry you PCP gave you a hard time mine did too. . I don't have a Dr for you (sorry), but I went through the same thing in San Francisco and I was bummed and freaked. I posted on this forum and some others and did not get a response. I did get a response in a FB group, but the Drs name was not posted, just the clinic.
But, the way I actually solved it was by going to one of the local Weight loss Drs group. And there was a Dr there who has the surgery. I tracked her down and then, I went to see her and asked.
I think the other way to solve this issue is to pick a Dr. in Mexico and ask for local references. And then, ask those people who they used.
I know this is not a simple answer and I'm sorry. I would post on all the forums out there and every FB group you can find.
I really wish I could help more, because honestly, this was to me the hardest part of the process and I felt alone and lost. You are not alone.
Good luck!
Good morning,
My name is Cynthia and I'm 24!
My insurance denied to cover VSG because my BMI is 34.5 and I don't have a comorbidity. However, I have a family history of High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and, High Cholesterol. So it's not a matter of "IF" it's a matter of "when." I've tried loosing weight on my own (Low-Carb, Weigh****chers, Herbalife, Phen, Personal Trainer etc) and my highest weight was 289 but I've been stuck at 220 for almost 3 years!
Since I was denied coverage by my insurance then my next option was going to Mexico, I have relatives and friends that have done this procedure in Mexico so I'm doing my research to find a doctor that fits my needs.
My question is how do I find a PCP that will be willing to help me with Post-op follow ups? My current PCP has already said no. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Chicagoland area?
Thank you!
Well I thought I had it all figured out and booked today but then I saw some negative information about the doc I had wanted to use, and am now trying to find a different option.
Who did you use? Why did you choose them? Are you happy with your decision?
Any information would be appreciated so I can do my own research on your recommendations. Thanks so much!
Please let me know how it goes with Joya. I was planning to book him this fall! I cant find any recent reviews.
I am having the roux-n-y in exactly 2 weeks from today with Dr. Garcia through Tijuana Bariatrics... I've read good things on him and have gotten some feedback from people who went to him. I'm excited either way.
My life is changing in so many different ways it is amazing I have my bad day but the sun always comes out of the clouds.
But the most of my bad day is not always caused from the surgery. This surgery has really mad me feel like a different person.
I have so much more energy the I have ever had. Just droping in to say hi and tell everybody how much I'M LOVING LIFE
I've been searching for reviews. Everything seems to be 2- 4 years old.
Is she still doing surgery?
Thanks
I also did a research on her, and since a live close to Tijuana, I know a few people over there, and she has had patients with a lot of complications, they told me an 18 year old patient died on her internal bleeding, so I discarded using her, instead I used Dr. J. Lopez, they have a great team, they care about their patients, and my results are great.... never had any complication!!!
Yes Dr. Pompa is still doing surgeries. I actually had a surgery with her last Thursday. From my understanding she has never had a death. You cannot be a surgeon of excellence with any death on your hand. Most of her patients come from Canada. her complication rate is one of the lowest which is 0.01% which is 1-10,000.
Thank you all for being their for me and thanks for the support as well.
Oh, the other thing is I did a lot of research at home. I went to the groups of the doctors here. I listened to the pitches of the Drs. here. I decided what surgery I wanted before I started researching Mexico. That helped.
You have to do a lot of research and I mean a lot you need to know everything that comes with the surgery.
And then call doctors and see what one fits your needs. I was on the phone for days on in. But when I called my surgeon I knew that this is the place I wanted to have surgery. The coordinator was always helping me with everything I needed to know and she her self has had surgery with the same surgeon. She was always answering my phone calls and if she was busy she would call right back. They even helped me with In House Financing because I was not able to pay the whole amount at once. I pay monthly payments and I love the way I am starting to see a new person.
I had surgery with Dr,Sergio Quinones, he was the one I decided after calling just about every doctor in Tijuanna ,and do not get me wrong it was not because they were bad doctors but because I felt he was the best option for me. I felt he fitted the needs for me,and I will tell you one thing I was so right I do not think I could have mad a better choice in a surgeon. He his kind, caring, educated and very respectful. He told me that if I was not sure that I wanted to have surgery that that was fine. I really liked that about him when I was taken up one of his rooms and space from another patient to be operated and for him to tell me if I was not sure he was not going to operate I felt like he was their to help his patients.
I did not fell like he just looks at us all like another cash pay out he really cares how his patients feel and what each and everybody needs.
Well I hope this helps you a little and good luck . Keep us all up to date and I wish the best to you.
