BIG BAND PROBLEMS

am 10 days away from my one year bandaversery. Im down about 48 pounds. now for the bad news... Ive had a fill every month since 30 days postop. the past 2 months there has been a huge probelm. when they went to take out the saline, they couldnt get out what was supposed to be i there. so last month dr decided to put back a litle more than what was supposed to be there and basically we were just hoping that I actually had a fill. this month. WORSE..... I supposedly had 3.8 cc in my band, they culdnt draw out anymore that 1.8 cc. they tried over and over and could get out what they were then putting in but stil not the amt that should have been there total. so..... we are now thinking something as simple as an sir bubble in there, or most likely a leak. we will now wait 2 weks and see how my restriction is. if it has decreased there will be sme kind of dye test done to check for aleak then, if there is os one, Ill have a choice to A. replace my band B. get fils way more often C. go ahead and get the RNY done right now Im so depressed about this. Im at my witts end over this. I came out of surgery thinking I was going to finally look NORMAL and now it seems like something is still trying to sabbotage me to no end.

Cathy-----if you still continue to have problems after you find out what the cause is, i really think you cant go wrong with the rny--whether you do it with open or lap access....how much wieght do you still think you want to lose? sorry for your difficulties...it has to be frustrating.but congrats on your weight loss success.........just hang in there.it will all work out, hug, rae

Rae, I still almost 100 pounds to lose. I didnt choose the RNY cuz I didnt want to do something that invasive. Ive had 16 surgeries sonce 1999 and wanted to keep things uninvasive. thnaks for your hugs

I am going through the same thing right now. It is very scary! I am five months out and my doctor has placed 6cc in with no restriction. I have only lost 5 pounds total. I had an xray last week to see if my band had slipped and it hasn't. When my doctor tried to withdraw my fluid, he could olny get 1.5 cc out. He wants me to meet with my surgeon as soon as possible. I am a bit freaked. I would really like to know what happened! Please let me know how things are going with you and I will do the same. Melissa
