hello everyone. i didnt want to post in the plastic surgery forum because if there are people that dont need it, they wouldnt be in there, right? i've noticed that in the majority of before and after pics, most people are wearing baggy clothes and long sleeves and pants. is it because they still see themselves as fat, lack of fashion sense, or mounds of excess skin? honestly, the only apprehension i have about getting RNY and losing 100 pounds is that i'm worried about excess skin. i am heavily tattooed and i dont want to have my arm tattoos swingin in the wind. and i have medicare and medicaid and am recieving disability benefits. there's no way i could pay for plastic surgery, or get a loan and i'm not sure if the insurance will pay for it. thankyou for everyones input. sincerely, sarah

Not everyone needs plastics. Some need it but can't get it done. A lot depends on your skin's elastisity, your age, and how long you've been overweight. There's no way to tell now if you'll need PS after you loose weight. This surgery is about getting healthy and not getting skinny and having a perfect body. If that were the case we'd ALL have to get PS from head to toe!!! Lets face it, our skin is stretched out and no matter how much weight we lose there still will be hanging skin (arms, thighs, panni's, chins, etc.) I don't have any tatoo's so I can't advise on those. Ive heard of some ppls who tats looked better after losing weight and other's who became out of shape. Maybe someone with tatoos will help you more in this area. Wishing you the very best in your wls journey!!!

As Lauri said everyone is different. My sister-in-law has lost 80+ pounds and doesn't need plastics on her belly at all. I on the otherhand lost 160 and did. She will need something done with her arms, I didn't. As for insurance, I have Medicare and they did pay for my TT because of health issues. I want something done with my legs & have been told that most ins. won't cover that, but Drs. office says that because of rashes & infections, there shouldn't be a problem. I do wish I could qualify for medicaid too as I wouldn't have the 20% hanging over my head, but so far my out of pocket hasn't been too bad. Can't help with the tatoo issue either. Sorry. Peggy
