HELP I think I failed my psych evaluation???It's taking forever to find out!

I had my psych evaluation last week and it was like a bad job interview. My evaluation was with Dr Frank of Henry Ford Hospital. The first thing she said was, so you're her on appeal? I have also had intensive outpatient rehabilitation for substance abuse about 3 years ago and I'm afraid that didn't help the matter.

Hi Cynthia, How long do you have to wait to find out the results? Maybe I'm dense, but it seems to me that a psychologist/psychiatrist should look at your rehab as a positive thing - - you were helping yourself by doing the rehab, correct? I would hope a professional therapist wouldn't hold something like that against you..... I hope you find out the results soon so you can relax and go forward. Don't worry about it yet....they have a way of making us worry. I had no idea when i did my evaluation if i passed or failed, i think a lot of us worry too. Just keep good thoughts and keep moving forward. Hugs Linda

Hey Cybthia: I had mine on Monday, 10/9/06. Just a thought -- did you ask for a copy of the results to be sent to you and also, did you inquire about when the report would be mailed out to your provider? I did both things and got fairly assertive with them (within the bounds of courtesy, of course). If you haven't heard, it isn't too late to call the psych and ask if the report is done and ask to have a copy sent to you....I wish you good luck.

I had Dr. Frank, and she failed me. When I got the letter saying I had been denied, they did not give a reason. I appealed to the state and said that Dr. Frank's speciality was GERIATRIC psych, not BARIATRIC!! I also live in Shelby Township - email me and perhaps we can put our heads together....

AHHHHHH! That is the last thing I was hoping to hear. I just know she is going to deny me. Ya know, really her evaluation should be simply can I follow the post operative instructions for the rest of my life. There is no reason I could not. So The picture I see of you is a thin you. Did you appeal to the state and have surgery or what? Did you have to go in person? I had Walter Lindstrom prepare my second appeal which was finally approved. Now, this psych eval is the last hurdle...I think. It's my understanding that If approved by dr frank then I call wanda and set a time for the seminar/nutritionist speaker etc. then schedule with Dr. Genaw. Did you have dr. Genaw? I'm never gonna sleep. This sucks and I am going to have to hear something soon. I live at 24 mile rd and shelby. What a small world. Cindy

I had my psych eval with Dr. Williams out of Hurley in Flint. Not only did I know my results before I left his office on the day of my appointment, but he also faxed the approval to my surgeon's office the same day too. I wonder why some doctors take so long and others are so fast? Mmm... Pam

I had my psych eval done today by Dr Frank. She said give it 2 weeks, and if I don't hear anything to call HAP. She also had said this was an appeal. But on my letter I recieved over a month ago said...."your request for bariatric surgery was approved pending a psych eval". And I know the Dr has the actual final say so.
