I had my surgery in March.....am down about 97lbs. and today I did the Detroit Free Press/St. John's 5K downtown with my son! I didn't finish last (almost, though) but I did finish. I'm so glad that I was able to even do it without fainting! Before surgery, I would never ever have dreamed about doing something like this. Also, I fit into the free T-shirt they gave me! If you're pre-op, start walking now, even if it's just 10 min. Then push yourself a little more every week. It will help so much with the recovery process. My little whippersnapper of a kid ran ahead of me and finsished with a pretty good time, so I'm proud of him too. Will I see any of you there next year?????

Congratulations Brenda! That is fantastic. You should be very proud. As far as myself running in a marathon, not likely. Even in high school I couldn't run long distance. I was alway a sprinter. Short and sweet....LOL. One of my clients ran in today also. How was the weather? It sounds like you had a great time. God Bless---Toni

Wow, that is amazing! That shirt stands for more than a race, it stands for a wonderful acomplishment in a new life. I second your advice on walking before surgery. I'm only now gaining a little strength, and that is because I was so couch-bound. I had (have) heel spurs and back aches, but I should have walked. I couldn't have made them any worse, and I did myself a great disservice by not moving my body.
