pre surgery medication

I know I can't take Motrin before surgery, can I take a tylenol? My surgery is on November7th.

I was allowed to but you REALLY need to ask your doctor these questions not here on the message boards. It's too dangerous to leave your medical care to us amateurs who aren't charged with your care and well being.

After I posted that I knew I would get that very same repsonse but I didn't know how to recall it. I will call tomorrow. What is the purpose of not taking ANY meds before surgery? I can see Motrin (bleeding) but tylenol? I wonder how does someone stop taking blood pressure meds or important ones like that. Just seems odd and I am sore from kick boxing and I am tired of getting in and out of the hot tub.

i can't speak for your doctor but mine allowed me to take tylenol and on the day of surgery i wasn't to take my other meds because the doctor at the hospital administered them by IV and kept tight control over what was in my system so they knew what they were dealing with.

To claify they said not to take any meds when they called me with a surgery date from then on until the 7th. Oh I have a slight headache from the smokers in the tavern last night. I knew we shouldn't have stopped in there. We were there an hour and I was stuffed up. Mind you I am a reformed smoker and dispise the nasty habit now. I figure if I can stop ANYONE can.

I would do what they said. If you have any questions about it, ask them because you really shouldn't decide that the people on this board know better than your doctor. We all mean well but we're not your doctor and we're not responsible for your health and well being.
