Does anyone have a hot cocoa recipe to share?

I am looking for a hot cocoa recipe that tastes good and is low in both sugar and fat. Most mixes still have 6-9 grams of sugar that I have found. Is there anything better?

I LOVE Nestle's Carb Select Hot Cocoa Mix. Cals: 25 Total Carbs: 5 g Sugar: 4 g Protein: 1 g I add in Designer Whey Vanilla protein powder and get 30 grams of protein out of a yummy treat. Laurie

Laurie: Thanks! Where do you find Designer Whey Vanilla Protein powder? I am always struggling to get in my protien and that would really help! I will check out the Nestle's too as that is way better on the sugar and carbs! How long are you out? You look wonderful. I don't know how to post my photo so that it comes up before and after like that, but it sure is neat to see you that way.

I buy both the designer whey and the hot chocl. at WalMart. And yes, it's a great way to get extra protein in. I've been drinking two per day for quite a while now. I'm just about 18 mths out now. I don't know how to get the photo to flip like that either, my brother did it for me. You could email the help people and see if one of the volunteers can do it for you. Laurie

How do you prevent the clumps. Seeing those floaties is bad enough, and when it's not mixed right, it doesn't taste great....

I buy Kroger brand or Swiss Miss sugar free. Both are good Robin

I drink this "hot cocoa" each and every morning, and have done so almost since my surgery. 1 scoop IDS Belgian chocolate protein powder (26 grams protein, vitamin fortified) I get this from Bariatriceating.com--no personal affiliation 1 T. sifted Nestles Dark Dutch processed cocoa (can add even more cocoa if desired) or 1 T. sifted Ghiradellis cocoa (both are baking cocoa, no sugar added) Mix these two together in a cup. Slowly add about 1/4c. cold water, stir vigorously with a fork to make a smooth paste. Gradually add very hot, not boiling water, to fill cup, stirring continuously. The added cocoa powder makes for a very rich and delicious hot chocolate. Even my non-surgical family members like this. I often add a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a small squirt of SF caramel or SF hazelnut syrup to the cup. This is how I start my day, and I think it has helped in my 200 pound weight loss. It is a great evening "snack" during the winter months, when you are trying not to graze. I just love it. Debra M.

1 cup of decaf coffee 1 scoop of chocolate unjury chocolate protein powder! I mix a dash of milk to the coffee to cool it just a little before the protein is added so it doesn't lump up. You NEVER taste the protein and it is really delicious! Wendy

for regular ordinary hot cocoa use 6ounces of skim or low fat milk, one tbsp of hershey's special dark cocoa powder and one heaping tbsp of splenda. delicious. for not so ordinary but high protein i mix some chocolate Matrix Chocolate protein powder with water or milk and then heat it up in the microwave. it's not bad at all and very low fat and sugar for 25 grams of protein (plus the protein in the milk if you use milk instead of water).
