My surgery is this Thursday, at 6AM. I've got slippers, robe, book, pillow, small fan, toothbrush/paste, pads/panties, hair brush, chapstick, CPAP, spirometer thingy, "going home" clothes and my medication. Did I forget anything? lol Were leaving tomorrow afternoon and staying in a hotel. I am to be on total liquids starting as soon as I wake up tomorrow, then at 10AM, take 2 Dulcolax tablets, does anyone know how long it takes for the Dulcolax to "kick in" and how long it'll "last". We plan on heading out about 3pm, it's a 2 1/2 hour drive to the hotel. Am I gunna make it, or end up making a "mess"? YUK! LOL

Good luck and God be with you! It sounds like you have everything and at first you won't need anything but sleep! And more sleep! So, not to worry. If you need anything, they'll have it for you anyways. Not sure about the Dulcolax, didn't use that as I was on liquid diet before hand. Maybe take one tonite to "start" the cleaning process....???

Cynthia, good luck with your big day~! the dulcolax box should give you some idea. personally, it hit me within a few hours. as to what you have to take, i didnt use my robe of nighty, i just used their gowns. they give you a nice package with all the little things like tooth brush , lotion, etc. they are great at barix! the only thing i didnt take that i could have used was a long pair of tongs. to help with the paperwork, lol. was a bit humiliating to have to have the nurse do the paperwork, as i was physiced by all the liquids!! but you get over it quick. again, good luck, it is quite the trip, lol.teri

Cynthia...god bless you and know that he will be with you and the surgeons tomorrow as you become a loser. I am not a loser until nov 7. Mine is in kalamazoo at Borgess Hospital. I will be praying tomorrow between six and eight for a no snag operation. I am recently so overwhelmed by the impact this lifechange really makes on us. Let me know if you need anything....God is good ALL the time.....
