okay I no I am going to have to wait at least 8 months I have documentation from aug everymonth sence with dr visits with my weight , now what else do I need for my insurence ?? hugs Sherry

hi sherry....call your insurance company and ask them what all needs to be done for approval for the gastric by pass. they will tell you what all you need to do to get approved for it. good luck!! hugs judy

If you are going through MMPC for your surgery they will submit all the paperwork for you so you need to just bring along all the diet documention and letter from your pcp to the three appointments and they will include it in when they send in for the approval. I did nothing with my insurance company when I had surgery at mmpc the billing department did it all. Tricia

Definitely call your insurance company. Get the information first hand from your account rep and ask if they'll send you the criteria in writing. Yes, your surgeon's office will have the information for your type of insurance as well.... but don't rely on anyone else to do the legwork for you. This is very important. Don't let someone else do your work for you - be responsible for your own health. Also - Make sure you keep excellent records of who you talk to at the insurance company and what they tell you. From your previous postings, it sounds like you're not completely decided on who will be doing your surgery. Personally I think that's an important first step for you. If you need to attend more seminars at different facilities, then get those scheduled. Do your research on which surgeons have the best "track record" and have the most experience in the type of surgery you want to have. I'd also suggest you pick up the book called "Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies" --- this was the BEST resource I have been able to find. It will answer a lot of your questions as you begin the journey. Then specific concerns can be filled in here with this excellent group of friends. HTH Pam
