we're supposed to go there later this month to see Alexander Zonjic play. Not sure i really dig that kind of music (light jazz) but it will be a nice night out. I've read great reviews about the place. My neurosurgeon is co-founder of Thelonious records along with Thelonious Monk Jr. I need to ask him about some good places to go.

Seldom Blues is really nice. You might also try Baker's Keyboard Lounge. Not as upscale as Seldom Blues, but live jazz & blues musicians all the time. Baker's has been around a long time. Just don't go there hungry, because as much as I used to love it , I don't think we can eat the food. They may have a website.

They do have a website. I was considering that, but had not heard a first had account of how it is. I am more concerned with the address of the places. I don't know Detroit very well and want to stay in safer neighborhoods. Wendy

Baker's is owned by my hs Principal's father. It's pretty cool. Straight ahead jazz sometimes by big bands and such. kp

Yup it all depends on the type of atmospher you are looking for Baker's is OLD SCHOOL and draws a mature crowd and it's not the Ren Cen but, true to it's roots. They have an attendent in the parking lot. You could also try Burt's. Have fun
