Has anyone had Dr Jamal Farhad?

Hi all, I am jumping the gun a little bit here. I am scheduled for RNY on Jan 30th but I do not see nutritionist until Jan 17th. (I was approved and they had cancelation, I took it) What I am wondering is, does he have you do a 2 week liquid diet or what ahead of time. I know I will find out in a few days but I am curious now. lol If anyone has an answer I sure would appreciate it.

I had my surgery in Aug of 05 with Dr. Farhan. At that time, they did not require a two week liquid diet. All I had to do was "eat light" 48 hours and then the final 24 hours before surgery was liquid only. Wasn't a big issue. However, that was nearly 18 months ago, they may have changed things since then. Dr. Farhan did a great job! I am very satisfied with Hurley, in general. Hope your experience goes well! Good luck! Thank you so much Tina! I was not too concerned about it more curious then anything else. I am so nervous and excited, I am glad to hear good reports about both Dr Farhad and Hurley. Hurley was the only place my combination of insurances would pay for so I didn't have much choice. Carolyn

Hi there Carolyn... I had my surgery with Dr. Farhan just 7-1/2 weeks ago..... They do have a liquid diet that they require for patients having the lap rny.. but if you are having it done open then it is only like 24 hours of light eating.... The liquid diet is something that you have to purchase, it is Shakes, chicken noodle soup and high fiber fruit drinks... it really isn't that bad.... Thanks for the updated info, Shawn. I didn't know they changed it! Did you go to the SG meeting? We ended up going to the gym Friday nights. Friday evenings just aren't a good time for us. I'm hoping to make it the next one! Tina
