I am onto regular foods, can everyone share a typical days meals with me? what do you eat..I feel I am not eating enough at all... I try so hard to get my water in and it makes me full...I am finding it hard to snack and eat things as in what to pick? My 20 month old daughter eats more then I do...What am I doing wrong??please help!!!
How long ago was your surgery?
And don't worry that you are not eating enough. It took me a good 6 months to be able to stomach food.
Here I am 6 years out of surgery and I eat less than most toddlers. So again, don't think you are doing anything wrong.
I'm guessing we had a different type of procedure because most people on this board have not had the GB that I have had. (I have no pouch, they actually took a portion of my stomach out and then did the RNY) Regardless, we all end up eating the same, or at least we should, lol.
My best advice for the water is to wait at least 30 minutes before and after you eat before drinking. I'm not allowed to snack so I cannot help you with that.
The easiest foods for me to eat early on where as follows:
Dry cheerios
Italian Ice
Tuna fish (and most other fish as well)
Mashed potatoes
Chicken
Watermelon
Suprisingly, salad
I always tried to eat my protein first and worry about the other foods after I got that in my system.
Hopefully my novel helped you some.

The egg is a great thing to be eating. The chicken nugget and pizza, not so much. Instead of eating a chicken nugget, try eating some baked, broiled, or boiled chicken. Even sauteed chicken would be a better choice than a chicken nugget. If it's the idea of a chicken nugget that you like and tastes good, try taking a piece of chicken, pound it very thin, lightly bread it with some Italian breadcrumbs and bake it in the oven.
Stay away from the heavier foods and you will find that you can eat more. At least that's how it was for me. You will be able to eat more as time goes on, but make sure to get in the protein and the water because you don't want to get dehydrated.
Hi Selena, Congrats on getting to reg. foods boy was I happy to get there. Your still early out so you will feel like you are not eating enough or that you just can't eat. It is so hard at first. But it does get easier and you will eat more as the months go by. I am 9 mos out now, and have no problems eating. I had open ryn w/ Dr. Wood ( micro Pouch) April 6,06. When I 1st started eating regular foods, i did scambled eggs, tuna, yougart, protein shakes, shrimp(loved them), lunchmeat and cheese. Just try different things. My day now starts off w/ protein shake , than oatmeal or cereal , snack yougart ,lunch salad w/ chicken or tuna roll up or something from leftovers, snack protein bar or cheese, dinner what ever everyone else is eating just alot less. I feel I can eat alot more than 6 mos ago. Any questions you can email at [email protected] good luck to you. Deann
sorry my email if you want to reach me is [email protected]
When i was that early out i practically lived on low fat cottage cheese and popsicles. I barely ate, and my nut said it was ok as long as i got my protein, water and vitamins in. i would maybe have two to three bites at one setting. I hated anything that made me full, i just wasn't hungry. Have you just introduced yourself to carbs? Usually that will slow you down until your body is used to it....i wasn't allowed veggies or fruit for a while.....the chicken nugget and pizza are not good choices for you. They are both way too greasy and could make you very sick. you could do grilled chicken or bbq even. tuna or any seafood is good , egg salad, deviled eggs, stuff like that and make sure it's protein first. Actually all i ate was protein in the beginning. Has your nut given you a list of what to eat? If you need any more help let me know.
Hugs
Linda
