HYPOGLYCEMIA

Has anyone had any problems with hypoglycemia? My sugar drops very low, so low to the point I go into a very deep sleep. I have been tested and that was the diagnosis. Sometimes I think it could be food related and sometimes it seems stress has been a factor. Any input would be helpful.

This is indeed a question for your doctor/surgeon. My reply is not medical advice nor should be considered medical advice and is my own opinion and relates to what I learned. (protecting myself from oh.com rules about giving medical advice.) My surgeon told me my sugar went down because we do not ingest alot of sugars anymore. 1. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN will help counteract the hypoglycemia. 2. He also indicated that tunnel vision, faintness, dizziness and lack of energy are symptoms. Since I began documenting and monitoring my protein intake at 80-100 gms per day, I have had NO problems with hypoglycemia. Again, I highly recommend you speak to your doctor/surgeon/pcp about this issue. Stacey W

I've always been hypoglycemic but it has gotten worse since wls. I've been on 6 small meals per day for about a year and a half now and it makes a world of difference. You would definately want to discuss this with your doctor to see how they want to treat your symptoms. Laurie

Sherrill I agree with Stacy, document what you are eating and you will know what is triggering your attacks. For me it was a glass of wine. Now that I am aware of that my hypoglycemia is under control. Take care, Janice
