Short survey. HOw much work did you miss after surgery? Could you have gone back sooner? Should you have stayed home longer? I know the average is three weeks but I am anxious to hear real situations. Thanks! Kati

Depends on what type of surgery you have I had one surgery Lap and was back to work in two weeks and when I had a open surgery I was off for 4 weeks, plus it also depends on what type of job you have I have a desk job so I did not have to do a lot of bending and twisting. Tricia

I had LAP RNY and i came back to work after 2 weeks. I had a few days that I had to leave early because I was just too tired and in pain. By the 3rd week I was good to go! Best Wishes Stacey B

Each patient is different. I had an open procedure. It took me a very long time to recover. I went back to work after about 10 weeks. Julie

I had open RNY July 19, 2005. I was off work 4 weeks, went back part time in 5, full time in 6. However, I sit alot at work. No lifting. I had help there (at work.) For my abdominoplasty, October 27, 2006, I was off work 5 weeks, went back part time in 6 weeks and full time at 7 weeks. However like people say, each person is different, depends on the TYPE of surgery you have, what you do at work, etc. I am comfortable with both decisions to take time off, and because I happen to love my work, and the people there supported both of my surgeries, I didn't have any problems going back to work.
