Did he open up your incision and pack it? That's what my surgeon did for mine, but i had lap rny not open. As for the swelling it is probably from the iv's you had in the hospital, it should go away soon. I hope you're feeling better soon. Hugs Linda

I had lap rny and my large one was infected too. It started draining the day of my appt so I kept pressure on it and most of it was drained by the time I got to the Drs office. Once I was there he opened it a little put a little more pressure on it, bandaged me up, gave me anti-biotics and told me to change the dressing twice a day. I had to take a second round of anti-biotics to be on the safe side. I am all healed up! It should be ok. Are you using triple anti-biotic cream and hydrogen peroxide? I found that these helped to clean it out and draw out the infection. They also make the anti-biotic cream with pain medicine in it incase it's sore. Stacey B

Rebecca, I had a lot of swelling in my legs and ankles for a few weeks after surgery. I'd had it before surgery and had Jobst stockings. I had to have my friend put them on for me. Sorry about the infection. Now I have a question about cipro? I can't remember if you should have started the Calcium and Vitamin supplements yet? How are you supposed to take them if you have to take them 2 hours before you have CA or vitamins or 6 hours after. I just got a script because of a UTI. Hope you feel better soon. Jeanne

Rebecca, You need to go to the ER. Infection and swelling is not a combination you want to mess with. kp

Rebecca, After each of my surgeries (RNY, hernia repair/tummy tuck, arms & lipo, lower lift with inner thighs, breast lift) I had this same problem. After each surgery I took lasix until the swelling went away. After I healed from the surgeries I could stop the lasix and everything went back to normal. Take care, Fran

My surgeon told me this would happen from the sudden lack of protein after wls. Up your protein and water. I know this sounds weird to add water, but it flushes your system. But definitely do what kp says and see the doctor to be sure it is not something more worrisome. I did have huge feet and ankles for about a week or so and adding protein and water did help along with lots of walking. Wendy

Thx again everyone for your input, I'll try to drink another 6 oz protein mix tonight, taking these antibotics isn't helping my little pouch today, the only thing been able to keep in me for a period of time is jello, bm been more on the loose side, I hate antibotics
