Why is this happening to me??

My "stall" has now officially turned in to ridiculous & is really taking a toll on me over all. I have been so depressed now I am hardly sleeping 4 hours if that/night. Then I tell myself that the no sleep is not doing me any good as well. I have not lost 1 darn pound in 5 weeks now. I am doing everything right (getting in 70 gms of protein, all my liquid intake & exercising at least 30 minutes/day 6 days/week). Why is my body fighting this. There are others I know that had this surgery the same time as I and are "cheating" here & there & everywhere & have lost double of what I have by now. I am really really disgusted. Surgery 11/27/06 & only down 24 lbs. Something is sooo not right with this picture. Has this happened to anyone>? Sorry for being so down but I am so upset with all this work I am doing & not getting the appropriate results. My surgeon said last week that I should be happy with a 6lb weight loss/month. What? I just had Lap RNY. I need to lose 110lbs to get a normal BMI. Thanks for listening. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Holly-hug.......i know your frustration..i did alot of stalling too in the beginning....it is just your body eveing out.........all of a sudden you will drop 10 just like that--with no good explanation....it just comes off when it is ready..........so keep doing what you are doing--cuz it is all the right stuff. you might want to try to vary your exercise.......like dont do the same thing every time you work out so you challenge your body a bit differently...you might want to try to up your protein a little bit and make sure you are not getting bad carbs in from somewhere that you are not recognizing.......getting bad carbs really mucks up my process anyway, even if i am taking in the correct amount of protein............so you have lots of ways you can tinker around.....but basically it sounds like you are doing so well........you will keep losing....and you will be so happy as you start to feel better! hug rae

hang in there, are you measuring? you are probably losing inches, make a food log, you have to get en enough good calories too. your body will go through periods that it has to re-adjust to the shock and the weight loss. when i do this i add an extra protein drink. that usually gets me going again. you are doing fine, try to go with the flow and dont get too discouraged. i know we all do it too, lol! teri

Holly, I've found I have to get between 1000 and 1200 calories in to lose the weight. If I drop down in to the 500 - 750 range, I stall because my body thinks it's starving. Use a food log (I use Fitday) to make sure you're getting the calories, less than 30 grams of fat and all the protein in to give your body a kick in the rear to get going. I've hit several stalls through the way but they're all normal. It does get frustrating. Like someone else said, measure yourself because you might be losing inches and then the pounds will catch up.

I am in the same boat as you are. I had my surgery on May 25th and I've lost 75 pounds. I'm happy about my weight loss - - but I read all the time about people who had their surgeries around the same time as me or more recently than me and have lost way more than I have. It has never "dropped off" of me except for the first two weeks after surgery. I am in what is now a 7 week stall and I'm starting to be afraid that I won't lose any more weight. Like you, I'm doing everything right. I feel for you - - I know exactly how you feel because I'm the same! At this point I would be DELIGHTED if I lost 6 pounds a month because that's a lot better than zero! Karen
