I would love to hear your experiences with them and the hospital. How long did it take for you to get your surgery after the behavioralist and surgeon appointments? Any and all comments welcome!

Hi, I went through MMPC. My Doctor was Dr. Foote & he was great. I went to orientation on June 12 & had my surgery on Oct. 5. I didn't need preapproval so for me it was easy. I had most of my appts. on the same day as I live 2 hrs away. I did have my stress test, scope, & sleep study done in Traverse City. I also delayed my surgery so my daughter could have hers first. Just in case she needed help. She had hers done on Friday & was back in school on Wed. She didn't need any help. The hospital staff was good too. I was only in 24 hrs. Good luck on your journey & keep us posted. If you have any more questions there are a few of us here that went through MMPC. Just ask. Nancy

I had Dr. Foote; It took nearly a year from the time I started to get my surgery because their office staff dragged their feet putting through my insurance. My only beefs have been with the insurance folks there. I understand I am the exception in this; most people go through the system much faster. If you feel they are dragging their feet, push them. My fault was being too patient. Otherwise, I was pleased with the doctors, PAs, nutritionists and exercise physiologist there. Spectrum Blodgett is a wonderful hospital; their bariatric floor has special rooms just for obese patients with bigger beds, chairs, showers, etc. They treat their patients with the utmost respect. They will also wake you up every two hours the night after your surgery to make you walk; this is to prevent blood clots and get you out of the hospital faster. I was in the hospital two days because of a post-op "heart glitch" that they never could figure out. Good luck to you. Eileen lap rny 6-29-04 347/178/170

HI JAMI.... I ALSO WENT TO MMPC AND HAD DR FOOTE. HE IS THE BEST DR YOU COULD EVER HAVE!!!! LETS SEE...I SAW THE INTERNEST ON JULY 31ST, SAW DR FOOTE AND THE BEHAVIORIST ON THE 7TH OF AUGUST, ON SEPTEMBER 27TH I WAS APPROVED BY INSURANCE AND THEN ON THE 28TH SEPTEMBER I GOT MY DATE FOR SURGERY...WHICH WAS OCTOBER 17TH. THE HOSPITAL WAS BLODGETT AND THEY TREATED ME LIKE A QUEEN WHILE I WAS THERE!! DR FOOTE FOUND A FEW THINGS WRONG INSIDE OF ME AND FIXED ME ALL UP LIKE NEW BEFORE HE DID MY RNY. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD RATHER I STAY A COUPLE DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL JUST TO BE CAREFUL. SO I DID AND EVERYTHING WENT GREAT!!! I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER DR THAN DR FOOTE AND THE CARE THAT I HAD AT THE HOSPITAL!!! I THANK GOD FOR SENDING ME TO DR FOOTE!!! ( I WAS TURNED DOWN BY ANOTHER DR BECAUSE OF SCAR TISSUE FROM A DIFFERENT SURGERY I HAD A FEW YEARS EARLIER) WOULD I HAVE THIS SURGERY AGAIN??? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!! I AM ALMOST 75 POUNDS LIGHTER SINCE WLS AND I FEEL GREAT!!!! I AM OFF MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION, OFF MY PREVACID, AND AM ONLY TAKING MY EFFEXOR, PRENATAL VITAMINS AND CALTRATE CALCIUM CITRATE WITH VITAMIN D. AND I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING THINGS AGAIN THAT I COULDN'T DO BECAUSE OF BEING OBESE....ONE THING IN PARTICULAR IS HORSEBACK RIDING!!! I CAN WALK AND SHOP AND BATHE WITHOUT BEING OUT OF BREATH. I LOVE IT!!! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY...KEEP ME INFORMED... HUGS JUDY

Thanks so much Judy! I have been curious how things have been going for you. I remember what you went through before you decided to go to Dr Foote. You may not remember me, I moved from Saginaw to the Detroit area. Anyway, thanks for the info and I hope things for me go as well as they did for you! Congrats on your wonderful loss!!!

I also had Dr. Foote. I started the process in March and could have had surgery in May but I was going on vacation in Las Vegas so I put it off until June 16th. I had my surgery on Friday, went home on Sunday and was out riding my bike on Tuesday. I've now lost 108 pounds in a little over 7 months and I'm doing well.
