Was just wondering if anyone would share what their daily menu is....at all stages. I am in my pre op week of clear liquids...and maybe this will help a little...knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel. LOL

Deborah - there surely is a light at the end of the tunnel! You can do it, we all did and we are all here to tell the tale! I'm 9 months out and eat pretty normal stuff. Snack:hot chocolate with milk/protein powder Breakfast:oatmeal with raisins, splenda, protein powder. Lunch:turkey chili Snack:southbeach bar Dinner:tortilla with turkey and cheese I'm really into turkey after surgery - ground beef didn't agree with me the first few times so I have changed to ground turkey. Last weekend I made a big batch of turkey chili and also turkey/mushroom lasagna. Have been eating them all week. Also last weekend I went to Bahama Breeze and had Conch Chowder and Blue Crab Claws. You will be able to eat normally again! Just maybe more healthfully(if that's a word). The days of all liquids, pureed, soft foods go by quickly. Good luck! sarah

I'm 7 months out and this morning I had a small omelet for breakfast with a piece of Aunt Millies 5 Grain light bread and a piece of bacon. For a snack I had a hot chocolate with Any Whey. Lunch was a Healthy Choice Sesame Chicken. For dinner, we're having chili made with 96/4 ground beef (very low fat). I will probably have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese at about 10 tonight for a protein snack before bed.

Hi Deborah, Everyone follows different menus according not only to the program/and surgeon, but also how post op you are. People who are 5 months post op can't eat the same as a person 2 years post op sometimes. I am 18 months out, I work 2nd shift so my day is a bit different than those who work 8-5 or 9-5. My breakfast is half regular half simply smooth decaf coffee with splenda and cream (i use fat free) and 2 scoops of Any Whey Protein (unflavored) for about 30 gms protein to start my day. This happens around 10am when I get up, I typically get home from work at 1am and can't go straight to bed. Snack is 1 Q-smart protein bars 10gms protein sometime around noon. Water here and there, maybe 2 bottles. Lunch is generally turkey or lean ham, a roll up or half a sandwich, and some form of either light lettuce or spinach, and a piece of fruit. I might eat cheese with the sandwich too. Dinner varies, I often make home made chili, soups, enchiladas, etc., and portion it out to last a few days. Tonight I am having a South Beach Diet meal chicken penne with sauce and brocolli. Then I'll eat a protein bar around 8pm and more water by 11pm. When I get home I always eat. Something generally with protein in it. Fish, or a turkey burger, or grilled cheese or soup. Again, it varies. I avoid dairy and milk, enjoy fish and mexican food, and try to have a variety. I am unable to eat vegetable with skin, seeds, and not cooked to near mush. Fruits I can eat have to be low sugar, and no skin or membranes(oranges). I cannot eat raw veggies, or anything that has skins. My taste changes so I have to have a variety of things handy. Hope this is of some help to you.

Thank you .....and i do realize there are different stages...and different NUTs.......but give me a general idea of how many stages go now. Actually I am doing quite well. I am not hungry. I found a different Chocolate protein powder I like. The Designer Whey, in Chocolate Peanut Caramel. Its not too bad. And since I didn't oreder but 1 chocolate unjury the first time....this will have to do till my next order. I just ordered more Unjury but will take a few days. I am so excited...only 4 more days.......I saw Wanda yesterday and got all my papers done, for STD and weighed in. Just gotta wait for the phone call on monday to see what time to be there. Picked up stuff today for hospital.... a nightgown and slippers, gotta get the special soap and chap stick. I got my Pepcid AC....and it now comes in a berry flavor....totally tolerable right now. I don't do mint. Anything else I need for hospital you can suggest. Still not nervous but I am sure come Monday...I will be. Thanks for all the support.

You should look for the Hibeclens right away because sometimes it can be hard to find. I had to go to a couple different stores before I found it. I had Dr. Carlin too and he is great. Good luck with your surgery! Kitty
