Beaumont ?
Don't let their lack of online information put you off! They have an excellent program. Superb pre-op and post-op support, patients just have to use it. I had my laproscopic rny in April of 2006 so I'm about 9 1/2 months out and doing great and it's due to all the support I have gotten from their system.
Dr. Krause from Beaumont Royal Oak was my surgeon. Awesome doctor, great information - great support. Dr. Zalesin from the Weight Control center is the doctor who took me through all the pre-op work and has followed me since surgery. She is awesome too.
They have everything you need to get this process rolling. Nutritionists, psychologist, exercise people, support groups. The groups are for people just starting the process and also for those post-op. They have a buddy system for people to pair up and share notes. They continue to do research on bariatric surgery and are monitoring all the patients for new things that are discovered. Example, when I went in for my 9 month appt they had found that post-ops can have problems with Vitamin A and beta carotene not being absorbed correctly, so she added that to my blood work.
I got into their program because my primary doc is from Beaumont. I am so glad that I chose to follow this path, it has been a great experience. I actually look forward to going to my follow up appointments and this is from a girl who didn't see a doctor from first grade to the age of 26!

Yeah there isnt alot about wbh on this site but there are some of us out there. I had lap rny at royal oak 9-16-06 Dr Krause did my surgery. He is the most caring, professional Dr. Plus he is an excellent surgeon. I felt completely confident with him. I have lost 192 lbs and am below goal. I see Dr. Mccullough at the Beaumont weight control center on Coolidge between 14 & 15 mile rd. They have a wonderful program there. I wouldnt have had any other surgeron do my surgery. Dr. Krause is the BEST!!!!
Take care,
Lynn
