Okay, I do understand the frustration with CORI I was apart of there program,BUT Dr. Wood was my surgeon and He is a wonderful Surgeon!! I haven't been back to CORI since I have been I think, 6mo. out I am now 3 1/2 yrs out. I have been wanting to go elsewhere because I didn't want to deal with CORI anymore. I do know alot about what went on behind the scenes and I can say we can't blame the Drs. for what the CORI CORP. was demanding and expecting from all involved. CORI (MSO)was a Business venture they didn't care about us as patients. But don't mistake that our Surgeons do care. I WILL be making an appointment to see Dr. Wood soon. I look forward to seeing him I am sure the office will be run much differently.....at least that is what I expect! This is JUST my humble opion. God Bless -----Toni

You know, I had excellent care/service from CORI. Maybe I'm the exception to the rule, I don't know, but everything went smoothly for me. I have the highest regard for Dr. Wood (he did my surgery) and since it's obvious that there were big problems at CORI (even though I didn't suffer from them) I'm glad he and Dr. Taylor have broken away and formed their own private practice.

Yep I have to agree with you! I give Dr Wood a great big !!! I owe him for my new life. I was talking to my SIL about our hospital here because I am having hernia surgery and she said she does not care for the hospital. I told her I did not either but I know I have a great surgeon so I am not going to let the hospitals short comings bother me. Besides I am only going to be there for 24 hours. I would like to see Dr Wood to make sure the ole pouch is still ok. Makes me nervous having someine else work on me but Detroit is sooooo far away and I-75 is not a nice road to ride on after surgery. Take Care!!!

Dr Wood is also my surgeon and a wonderful one at that. I guess I too was one of the few that never had a problem with the Cori Center. I went there because of Dr Wood. Because I knew others who had him for thier surgeon. And had only heard such wonderful things about him. Now I thank him for giving my life back. And I also look forward to seeing him for my check ups. He is a awesome doctor and so caring of his patients. I guess just my opnion also, but I would think it is our opinions that do count. God Bless, DeAnn

Thanks for this post Toni!! I too have Dr. Wood to thank for giving me my life back and from the start I went through CORI for the surgeon NOT the program! It really infuriates me all of the "haters" out there....Dr Wood in my opinion is a phenominal surgeon and know his bariatric "stuff"!! I do not understand those who have negative things to say about the program, when in all actuality has very little to do with the surgery. I also don't know about what went on behind closed doors when other surgeons left CORI, and frankly I don't care. Drs Wood and Taylor finally had enough BS from MSO and I am just thankful there are still around for me and my aftercare. I will say the staff was generally speaking more at ease and not so uptight when I saw Dr. wood at the end of Jan, so hopefully your experience will be better this time around! Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, Just wondering ~Why do you call us "haters" (thats not nice)? I don't believe any of us have said anything bad about the surgeons. There are many people on this forum that have had bad experiences with C.O.R.I. centers. Sometimes people come to OH to get information on surgeons, and the places they work from. They will get the information they are looking for. GOOD OR BAD ~people will share their experiences with others. If it were just one or two people that complained about C.O.R.I., then I may wonder about it. The facts are many, many people complain about them. That can't be ignored. Someone was saying we are responsible for our care. We are to a certain extent. When a change this substantial happens, the Doctors should be responsible to make sure their patients are informed about it. Personally I'm very glad that I ended up not going with C.O.R.I. centers. I'm glad the surgeons mentioned in the original post finally realized they were getting a bad rap by being associated with Cori and got out. Just my opinion God bless, Annette

Hello Annette! The reason I use the word "haters" is simply because that is what people seem. Many put their 2 cents in on posts about the CORI center when they themselves have had NO personal experience with them. They make comments based on things they have heard, or a story someone who knows someone who had an ex sister-in-law that had a bad experience. Those who have not had first hand experience imo shouldn't even bother replying on threads like that (and I am not just talking about CORI experience either....ANY surgeon/program that they have no experience with). I have had nothing but WONDERFUL interaction with the office. I was VERY pleased with the time it took from consultation to surgery date (6 weeks), they took care of all insurance stuff for me.....I don't have any complaints. As seen here on this thread there are others too that have had no problems with them. For those that have had problems, they have a legitimate reason to complain/be angry etc and I encourage THOSE people to speak out when someone comes here looking for info. I know I will be sure to chime in and express my happiness from here on out as well. I am happy for you that you are glad you made your own decision to not go with the CORI center as I am sure you are happy that I have had a wonderful experience as well. I apologize if my calling those with no experience but who bash on CORI haters, but if it looks like a frog...... Jennifer

Can I add this little something too? While I'm not pleased that I was not informed FORMALLY of their move, by them...the fact is, I did find out and checked into it. While a great majority of us feel like it is their jobs to make sure we get our care, it's really not. It's up to US to make sure we get our care. It's OUR responsibility to follow up. It's OUR lives and we act like we can hand over our lives for someone else to take care of us. If you don't think you're getting the proper care, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Don't just sit back and wait. Was I happy I didn't get a notice?? No. Did I seek out the needed info? YES! It's my life for crying out loud. We as patients have to realize that we are not their ONLY patients. Do they have a responsibility to us, yes, but we also have one to ourselves. I know if I don't follow up with my shrink, he's not going to chase after me, hold me down and force the pills down my throat. Come on people...take responsibility for your OWN lives!! I was one of those who thought the CORI center was going to be taking care of me the rest of my life. But I realized soon that I had to make the follow up calls, I had to locate my surgeon, I had to hound and hound to get the vitamins I paid for. CORI took my money and Dr. Taylor's new office had to send me their vitamins. Fair?? No, I think not. Ok, off my soapbox now. I feel better, how about you?
