WOW LOW BLOOD SUGAR!
Hey everyone,
Had quite the scare this mornning my blood sugar bottomed out at 52! I was shaking, fuzzy, lightheaded, and confused. I did not want to take my diabetic med this am for fear of even going into a coma! What is the norm; is it not (80-120) what happens when it goes to low? Anyone else have this problem? Did not take med and drank sugar free hot coco with protien powder in it; my sugar went back up to 68. I am beginning to feel better. Called doctors; they advised me to get off diabetes meds right away; montior sugars closely, and add as much protien as I can! Had RNY on Monday, came home Wednesday. I am taking in my fluids, my sugar free jello, broth, ect; and putting protien in it! Hope I can begin feeling better soon. Still in a lot of pain!
Can't take narcotic pain meds with codine; taking darvocett every six hours. Doing my walking and sip, sip, sip; and I am fine with my smile breathing machine! Everyone who had the surgery a while ago, you need to share the good and the BAD! Thanks for your prayers, and encouragement. Sincerely, Judy R
I'm sorry that you had this experience Judy! I'm sure it was frightening to you.
However, a lot of us have shared the bad parts to wls and have been ripped to shreads by people on the boards - kind of leaves us gun shy as to talking about things too much. So don't be too hard on us for not telling all the bad that goes with it.
Congrats on your surgery, I'm sure you'll get your levels evened out and be just fine.
Hugs,
Laurie
I had my surgery on Tuesday.....I didn't start up my diabetic meds until I start eating more....like the soft foods. I called my PCP and said to use a sliding scale.....and I have not given any insulin since I came home from hospital. Call your PCP....he is supposed to guide you thru this part. I am sure when I start eating different foods, ike the soft foods, puddings, and yogurts...etc. ....I will be taking the oral meds but no insulin. But we will see.
