Well.....so far so good on the protein and water end ....but I have this pain on my side....towards the back, when I breath deep. I am not sure if it is a gas pocket....I took the Pepcid Complete. Could just be part of the healing. I am on clear liquids for 2 days after surgery and then was told I can go to full liquids on day 3-4, if I tolerated. And things seem ok. So I will go to full liquids in morning. I need to add calories, so the pudding and yogurt will help. Did anyone still sleep alot on day 3 and 4?? I am so sleepy... And......no pain meds at all today!!!

Where you open? It could be your ribs where they attached the 'rakes'. I know I had pain off and on towards my back for a while due to the 'internals' trying to find their places again and healing. Also, your ribs could be slightly bruised from the rakes if you were open. Could also be gas. Try walking as that will help. If it continues for a few days then I would ask the surgeon whats up. I got home on a Wednesday and did not even walk out of the house until Sunday afternoon! My sleep schedule was a mess for almost a week. I was awake and asleep both day at night!! Good luck and welcome to the losers bench! Michelle

Yes I agree the pain is from all the moving they did. If not better you could call your surgeon and ask them. My sleep was messed up for at least a week. The walking helped my pain when it was bad too. Sip sip sip and walk walk walk. Each day will get better. Take care. Hugs Debbie M

Welcome to the loser's bench!!!! I am not sure about the pain, but the sleeping I did a lot of for about the first week, but then it got better slowly... You will get back to normal before you know it.... Good luck on a speedy recovery... Shawn M.

yes I had my surgery on Monday and I have very little energy! I think someone has stolen our battery charger; actually there just isn't enough fuel to run our engines. Those gas pains have been the kicker for me too! Do not drink or eat to fast it makes them worse.. Take care good luck. Glad to hear your doing well. Sincerely, Judy R

Glad to see you on the bench! Try walking (it was SLOW walking for me) to see if you can get the pain to be a gas bubble that will pass. The sleeping may be your body trying to throw off the rest of the anesthetic, or just grabbing enough down time to heal. The pain meds may yet prove useful, but I'm glad you are feeling good right now! See you on the first Friday of March for Westland Winners dinner.
