Surgery Date coming up FAST!
Surgery set for March 13th!!!
I have been reading this board for about two months now. This is my first post and I wanted to thank everyone for giving me some insight into this process.
My exp. has been much easier than I expected after reading the horror stories :chair:
I went to my informational meeting at MMPC in mid December. The one where they have a room full of 50+ and go over the programs and the different surgeries. I have had friends who have gone through the process and I knew this was someting I wanted. Went to initial appointment, weigh-in and to get my blood tests paperwork about a week later.
Early in January I had my meeting with the psych, nut and pa.. I remember to bring my prior weight loss attempts with me. I was fairly detailed and went back 7 years of exercise, diet and some medical attempts. It covered about two pages.
Then I met with Dr. Foote, seems like a great doctor!
MMPC submitted my paperwork to BLUE CROSS PPO and told me to call back in a few weeks. Of course I was anxious and called by exactly TWO weeks :)
I was suprised to hear that I was approved to have my surgery! :-o They would call me in two days to set a surgery date. I was expecting late March or April, they called and said Feb 13th! I couldn't believe it! Only 12 days!
I'm convinced going to a Center of Excellence is an vital step to getting approved fast.
Also, having your weightloss attempts document and detailed when you first visit. I didn't have ANYTHING for my current doctor or any of my past docs.
This is rambling.. just wanted to say thanks.. this community helped me make choices that made this possible.
Let me say welcome to the board and congrats on your date..... Wooooooo Hooooooo... Tomorrow.. that is fast approaching... You will be a loser in just 24 hours.... How cool is that... Sounds like things sure did move smoothly for you.... that is always a good thing....
Well, since you have been reading the board for a while then you know there is a wealth of information and help here on the board... you can always ask just about anything....
Best of luck to you tomorrow for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!!!!

What do you mean BCBS waives the pre-approval? I just went to the Beaumont Weight Control Center....did a medical eval., psych eval., met with dietician, nut, and now i am scheduled for cardiac stress test, ultrasound, and sleep study. I believe after all that is done, THEN they will send the info to the surgeon and go through insurance. Is that how it actually works? Please help me...i'm a little confused.
