Hey Everyone, I was in a lot more pain Sat. and Sun. ; I could not figure out why, and dismissed it as gas. Mid Sunday afternoon, I discovered a hard lump in my upper right staples; and also some signifgant swelling and redness. Hubby imeadiately called out doctor they called in some antibotics right away. I was running low grade fever too. Then before bed I was setting up rocking with pain; I felt something like breaking loose! When I got up to use the bathroom I discovered a thick grayish puss coming out of my top staples; it felt better as I gently pushed on it so I did. It kept coming out with grayish puss; but the lump was getting smaller. I bet I got about 2 of the medicine cups or more worth of puss; went to bed, and found myself draining even more when I awoke! I am going to the doctor this am. So warning to others don't just brush off your pains as being a big baby; in my case I believe it is a serious infection, and that I caught it just in time! So while others were celebrating how great they felt; I was wondering why was I such a wimp! Not a wimp; just missing the signals! Anyone know what I might face today; or what they will do about this besides antibiotics? Please send up more prayers for me. God Bless and Thank you all for your advise and support! Sincerely, Judy R

Oh Judy my heart goes out to you as this must certainly have been & still so be frightening & unsettling. Though I cannot offer you any advice nor speculate on what lays ahead of you please know you are in my thoughts & prayers. Meanwhile continue to keep in contact with your surgeon. If your surgeon doesn't seem to give you enough follow through contact your PCP. Patt

Sorry you are having such trouble Judy! I'm a little surprised your surgeon just "called in" a script without wanting to see you, since you just had surgery and infection is a very serious thing after surgery. I'm hoping they want to SEE you and examine you. I'd insist on it. I know in some cases, they want to admit you to do intraveinous antibiotics, to really nip it in the bud. Best of luck to you! You will be fine...just had to know what it was! Geez! Hugs, Theresa

(((((((((( Judy )))))))))))) It is a good thing you called your doctor... Never think of it as being a whimp.... everyone has different experiences and that is why if you don't think something is right you need to call your doc asap.... Good think you did.... I hope all goes well when you see him today... Keep us posted on how you are doing.. I have no clue what he is going to do or has planned for you... Good Luck... and I hope you are feeling better soon... Shawn M.

Wow you are really having a tough time...((((Hugs)))) Like Teresa...I too would insist on seeing my doctor. I would rather be safe then sorry. I forget....did you have open? or lap? I know I don't have any staples or stitches...so I am assuming you had open. Although different doctors, different techniques. Sending some prayers to help get you thru this rough spot.

You're right Judy, when we are in pain we should listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us. Did you see your surgeon yet today? I had lap rny and one of my incisions got infected the day i was leaving the hospital. No puss, but red and swollen. My surgeon opened it up so it could drain and then i had to clean it and pack it with this smelly gauze twice a day. It took a long time to heal but finally did. I too was on antibiotics. I hope everything gets better for you now. Hugs Linda
