calories,protein,carbs?????
Hey everyone,
I am just wondering I am just shy of 7 months our from surgery and I am wondering what everyone is eating? About how many calories and carbs do you all get a day? I have been doing this whole "diet" program for like 3 1/2 weeks now because I am stalled at 170 for almost 6 weeks. FRUSTRATING!!!!! LOL I average about 800-900 calories a day, I get in 60 - 65 grams of protein and around 60 - 70 carbs a day sometimes less. Does that sound about normal? I don't know because I haven't been to see me NUT for a long time! I know I probably should have went but sometimes other things get in the way. Please let me know what you are all doing so I can change things if I need to. Thanks in advance guys for all your input and feedback. I really look forward to the advice.
Hugs,
Diane

You know, i never really tracked my calories or carbs....give me an example menu and i'll let you know. Is your protein intake from shakes or food? I make sure to get at least 80 grams or more a day. How much water are you drinking? i get over 100 usually but i know we're supposed to get at least 64. Are you walking and exercising?
Linda
Hey Linda,
your pic looks great by the way! Ok here is what I ate yesterday. I had 16 ounces of milk. which was 240 calories, 10 fat, 22 carbs, and 18 protein, a 2oz. pack of beef jerkey which was 150 cal., 2 fat, 4 carbs, and 28 protein., I had dinner which was about 200 calories, 12 fat, 11 carbs, and 4 protein. I had a granola bar which was 160 calories, 8 fat, 16 carbs, and 5 protein. I also had some grapes but I don't know what the carbs and all that is on grapes. I did drink and work out yesterday too. I exercise about 3 to 4 times a week at curves plus use my ab lounger. So, tell me what you think ok. I do eat a lot of cottage cheese, cheese things like that still. I also still eat a lot of soup. I guess I really just don't know what I should be eating right now. I am doing AMAZING staying away from sugar! Which is harder then I thought. But, if I want these last 15 pounds off me I have to really work for them I think. Any advice you could give me would be so appreciated. Thanks Linda.

Di
okay first thing i see is you are getting all your protein from food, and you don't know how much of that you absorb, so i would add some protein shakes in there. The next thing is i see that your carb intake is outweighing your protein intake, in a few cases, three to one. I always keep my protein higher except in fruits and veggies. The grapes are good, i eat them a lot, and also apples and clementines. Soup goes right through you, but i still eat it sometimes.
So here is what i do. As soon as i wake up i drink protein(which is right around 30g). Then the rest of the day i eat five to six small meals, this keeps my metabolism high. I always eat protein first, fruits or veggies next, then carbs or fat last. This way by the time i get to the bad foods i'm about full and don't eat much of it. I load myself with water (actually tropicana sf lemonade) all day and before i go to bed i usually drink more protein.
What john said is right, change your routine . You're doing an awesome job.

Hi there Linda,
Thank you so much for the advice. I do also eat things like beef jerkey and mil****asionaly i do have a protein drink. i guess right now i just don't know what I should be eating. I don't do bread. I stick to things like beef jerky, cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, things like that. I would LOVE to start eating different food. I am so tired of this stuff. I guess I should buy a book that gives you all the info about carbs and protein. Thanks for the advice.

Di
Not that I know for sure if this is your problem, but I've seen it time and time again. I know of several people who stall out at about the same point. For most of them, it wasn't a matter of too many calories as much as it was not enough. You should also vary the variety of food you eat. If you get into a routine, your body adjusts accordingly especially on the little calories you are eating. I've told others to bump their calories up to 1000-1100 and that seemed to get them out of their stall. I can't say for sure if it will work for you. However, I've seen it in too many people to be more than just a coincidence. If you are exercising and drinking at least 64 oz. of fluid, I would suggest this may be your problem.
