Had Laryngitis that has lasted more then 3 wks???? I am curious just how common this is. My pcp seems to think it is more then laryngitis, I guess we will see. My PCP set me up with an ear, nose and throat specialist. I have an appointment on Tuesday. I figure it will be all better by my appointment....LOL. I am also having symptoms of having Thyroid issues. I have to get blood work tommorrow. I think I am falling apart.....LOL. I guess this is what over 40 gets you!!! ....Toni

Gosh Toni, I just don't know, but I'm glad you are getting it checked out thoroughly. As you know, you don't fool around with stuff that lasts that long. I understand the over 40 remark VERY well! After 40, I swear I feel everything twice as much! Hope you get an answer and start feeling better soon!!! Does it hurt or is it just your voice gone? Are you sure your hubby isn't doing something to keep you quiet??? Keep us posted.... Hugs, Theresa

Hey Toni, I have! It's the same virus that causes croup in the little ones (and very genetic btw!) If you get it chronically- you may just be having a bad season or you have new triggers ( heat or cold, dust, dry, too humid). Unfortunately since it's such a lovely personalized virus there is no general cure! I found herbal and alternative rememdies helped much more than any OTC pill or syrup. (Garlic and honey tea in my case, tasted like cat urine but it worked in 3 days.) Anyhow- best of luck!

I'm not sure what might "cure" laryngitis, per se, but, having a radio background, having had to use my Voice for my paycheck, I am aware of some tips to help soothe the voice box, and larynx. see if you can find sf lemon drops. a few of those per day. if not, put lemon in tea, water, whatever. LEMON. helps. gargle with sal****er, warm. it's nasty but it works. and keep warm fluids going down to soothe the trachea/larynx and overall, will help in some way. I did this many many times being a DJ and it helped a great deal. Stacey
