OT - County Music Festival - MidMichigan

A huge four day country music festival was just announced today. The festival is in Farwell - MY HOME!! No, not my house...but where I live. This is huge for our little community. The following big names are scheduled to appear: Blaine Larsen Darryl Worley Joe Nichols Leann Rimes JR Brown Shooter Jennings Carrie Underwood Gretchen Wilson Jeff Foxworthy Steve Azar Sawyer Brown ...... and they have a few spots which are listed TBA. Michelle, Sorry hon, this time I am going "out of the country" to Canada for a wedding I'm involved in June 23rd. We leave the 21st and I don't return to the states until July 2. Of who's listed, I'd want to see Carrie Underwood first, then LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson and I've seen Sawyer Brown (good show back in the mid 90's)........ Have fun!!!!! Stacey W

Da Yoopers????? DA YOOPERS ????????? How can I possibly miss Da Yoopers! Have you been to the site? How much shade, how many bugs, how noisy do you think? I usually do bluegrass and "roots" music festivals, some of the country ones have bad reputations for too much booze and two few brains. Waddaya think for this one? Are they promoting it as a big party or for the concert aspect? And I admit I was out of state too long, where is Farwell? My atlas doesn't show it and it's too cold to run for the car maps in my jammies (sorry, TMI).

Where they are having it, from what I was reading is at the old ski resort (no longer open...but I believe they have a restuarant there still). I found out about this festival this morning on my way to work. One of the stations does a St. Jude telethon and the guy in charge of this festival was talking about it this morning. He also donated 50 tickets to the station for callers to 'win' by giving a donation. Today was the FIRST time it has been talked about publicly (he said on the radio that you can get the tickets through the website only right now, but will go 'public' at the end of this month) and they were really pushing the big names....Carrie Underwood...Gretchen Wilson....Leann Rimes.... THEN, I was looking at my hometown newspaper online tonight and THERE IT WAS!! My hometown is about 45 minutes from here....so for them to write about this festival that is a bit of a distance...well, I was pretty impressed. I am sure there will be more promoting of this festival now that the cat is out of the bag. It's just a matter of time. Farwell is just north of Clare, about 5 minutes....or 20 minutes from Mount Pleasant....depending on how fast you speed. Michelle
