Losing Slowly

Has anyone experienced slow weight loss. I am afraid that this procedure just did not work for me. I am 6 weeks out (lap RNY) and have lost only 23lbs - given that I weighed 307 to begin with - even my doctor said that was too slow. I met with him and the nutrionist they gave me a few pointers - eat no bread whatsoever (but I was hardly eating any to begin with) and to increase my protein intake. I have been working out 3x a week at the gym but am going to step that up to 5x a week - and walk the other two days - hopefully that will help. I realize this was just a tool - but I lost faster on other diet programs than I am on this - and eating way less - Am I doing something wrong. Help!!

Julie, When you have the time, go back on this board and review some of the old posts. You will see that lots and lots and lots of us posted the same question you did. There is such a small chance that this procedure didn't work for you.....don't worry about that. At 6 weeks you should probably just be concentrating on protein and water. I know it's hard and you want to introduce other things so you feel more "normal". Your body will adjust and all of the sudden you will look at the scale you'll have lost a chunk. Plus your body is changing in so many ways, like losing inches. There seem to be some of us that lose in spurts, and you might be one of them. I was! I had my surgery in March. I weighed in at 311 the morning of, and exactly 6 weeks later I had lost 28 lbs. So you're a little slower, but still nothing to get too stressed about. Stick to your protein first, try to stay away from things like crackers or bread. They are just not what you need, even though they can be so comforting when everything else feels strange. Don't obsess about the exercise, either. Five times a week is plenty, IMHO. Don't get discouraged. Listen to your NUT and you'll see things moving along soon enough. Brenda

First of all, how much water are you drinking? Make sure to get at least 64 ounces, load your body with that and protein and the weight loss should pick up. What and how often are you eating? Hugs Linda

Hey there Julie, I can honestly tell you I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I remember reading posts on here where people would post how they had dropped 5 to 10 pounds a week. That was NEVER me. I am now 7 months out and have lost 86 pounds. I remember losing an average of about 2 pounds a week. On the week of my cycle I would drop an extra pound or two. I have been stalled for about 4 weeks now and haven't moved. DON'T get discouraged. (i think i need to practice what I preach.LOL) I am fretting about not losing anything for 4 weeks. LOL it happens. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will come off. Don't lose heart. I know sometimes it is hard. But have faith that this will work for you! Keep plugging away at it everyday! keep up the good work! Hugs, Di

Thanks for all of your responses. I am feeling much more encourgaged. I am trying to make sure I drink all of my water - and I am tracking my protein - I don't think I am getting enough in.
