I did not have to buy anything before surgery because the office gave us our post op supplements which we took after surgery. I only took my clothes that I wore home plus chap stick was a good idea. I wished I would of walked a lot more because that help with the gas. Yes I had complication but they did not happen until three months post. I do not have kids but I took care of my self and was alone and had no problems. I am willing to be your angel when you have your surgery. I live in TC and I also work for Munson if you would like me I will be available. Tricia

1. Same answer as Linda....don't "overstock"..you just don't need that much. 2. Pillow for the ride home, that's about it for me. I took magazines, etc., but ended up sleeping when I wasn't walking. 3. No complications whatsoever, thank the Lord, although I did throw up the first night because I found out morphine makes me sick! Switched to Demerol and I was good to go! 4. No, I really think I was well-prepared. I was on this site night and day and learn a lot! Just as you are now! You will do great because of it! 5. No children at home. 6. Sounds like you have an angel now, but if for some reason you don't I'd be happy to! Just let me know. Good luck to you!

Will you be my angel? I have Terri acting as my conscience. If I can get someone to be in charge of my morals I will have it sewn up! Maybe Jon,,,,,,, NOT! kp

HI Krysti..... like I said before I hope these responses help you and others as well as me. I think you'll like Dr. Featherstone. I personally have not met him but have heard great things about him. I am having my surgery wtih Dr. Nizzi. Have you been over for a support meeting yet? If you ever wanna car pool let me know? I won't be going tomorrow (2/26) my son has hockey but I plan on going to the one in March (that is if I haven't had my surgery yet lol). Good luck and keep us posted on your progress too ! ~~Rona

Hi Rona, What great questions. I couldn't have made a better list myself. I have been wanting to get a hold of you to see if you got a date yet. Now I know. I am still fighting with my insurance company. They denied my PCP's appeal letter and I just sent mine in. They keep saying that I haven't met the 12 months of dieting and doctor visits. I obtained copies of my medical records and found that I HAVE me all of the visits and diet plans due to my Diabetes. So I just keep fighting. If I hurry up and get approved maybe we can still be roomies! Oh yeah as for question number six, I would be happy to be one of your angels and I will keep praying for you. Best of luck. Joni

Hi Rona, 1.) I didn't really "stock up," I just made sure I had some sugar free clear liquid diet items around...jello, popsicles, Fruit 2o, bouillion, and water. 2.) Don't bother with taking your own nightie or jammies. I took 3 or 4 of my own things and never even used them...the IV's were in the way and the Jackson drain was weepy so I used the hospital gowns they provided. They have snap up sleeves. Take some Carmex or chapstick, your toothbrush, your own pillow, and ask about sugar free mints. My mouth was horrid that first day and a mint would have been nice. 3.) I had no complications. 4.) I was up and around within a few hours. I walked alot. If I would have done anything differently, it would be my attitude. When I was finally able to take meds by mouth, they disconnnected my PCA..I was LIVID. I was rude to the nurse when she brought my first dose of liquid Vicodin. I had to go back and apologize to her because I felt so bad. 5.) My kids are teenagers so they pretty much take care of themselves. I think a week of having your Mom and MIL helping out will be just fine. I was pretty much OK by then. 6.) I can't be your angel because I live in Delaware. Your angel should be someone who is close enough to be available to visit you in the hospital, at your house, and be able to call on the phone, etc. Good luck and keep us posted! KathyG
